Well, it's true. 2channel type forums are pretty much only known to people from Japan, Taiwan, etc., i.e. people from eastern countries. It makes sense to generally refer to these people online as "the eastern part of the internet", just as it makes sense to classify the mostly English speaking population of the internet as "the western part of the internet".
