[Possible Job] Pizza Delivery (11)

So there's this place that's opening near my house, and it seems like the only thing that's holding it back is the lack of delivery drivers. There's been a sign in the window for atleast three weeks now saying they're only looking for delivery drivers. I haven't had a job in two or three years, and I'm thinking this might be the perfect opportunity to get back out there and get some money. I've always regretted having gotten my drivers license and a car, but now I can actually make money with it. The prospect of getting time alone while working and being able to listen to music makes this somewhat more desirable than other jobs I'd been thinking about. The only thing that's stopping me is my car. It starts and drives fine, but I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with one of the bearings - there's a whining noise coming from a wheel as it moves.

Does anyone here have any experience being a delivery person for a pizza place? Tell me about it.

My roommates in college both did this. One was successful, the other not. The successful one kept on top of car maintenance and didn't blow his money on weed. The unsuccessful one let his car disintegrate and was high all the time. He finally lost his job, couldn't pay for anything, and last I saw him his girlfriend was driving his unemployed drop-out ass everywhere. One problem with the job is that it's full of slackers and therefore weed is easily accessible. Also, you get cash from tips, so it feels like you have more money that you really do... SO, don't blow your money by partying every night and keep your car well-maintained and you will do just fine.

Or just sell weed to pizza delivery drivers, that's where the real money is...

Good thing I don't smoke and have no social life... Also good that I feel like I need to save my money for things I actually really want. This sounds like it could be something good for me.

I used to hang out with some dude who's Dad raised four kids by delivering pizzas. That dude was a fag. ^___^

MAINTAIN YOUR CAR / SAVE MONEY FOR CAR REPAIRS

^^^ Print this out and put it right onto the windshield of your car. Follow this advice and you'll be fine. This also applies if you're going to be a truck driver. Actually it applies to nearly any job except for working at the KFC across the street.

Good luck, >>1. Fare thee well, etc.

Do delivery drivers typically get compensated for fuel?

I've met quite a few who have. With today's retarded energy prices, it wouldn't be shocking to hear that pizzeria owners don't do compensation anymore. Ask around; pizza places are always hiring delivery drivers and while one place doesn't compensate another may. At the very least you can write it off on your taxes, though.

Turned in the app a few days ago, said they'd call me the next day, and that was two days ago. ._.

I'll wait another couple days and then call to see what's going on.

Yeah, definitely give them a call. This goes for most places of employment. It shows that you're honestly interested in the job, since you're going out of your way to contact them about it instead of just handing in a piece of paper and being done with it.

This thread brings me back. I did get the job, if anyone was wondering. I kept it for about a year before quitting.
