I just finished reading Kare Kano up to volume 16, the last three volumes in a single go, and now I am totally shocked and awed.

This thread is for discussing how Kare Kano is the pinnacle of shoujo manga!

I only know that 16 is out already, and 17 is coming in a few months. Luckily, 16 ends the HUGE plot arc that started in volume 13.

Kare Kano is one of those that I've wanted to see but never got around to. I keep seeing random praise for it such as this thread. I first heard the opening song a couple of years ago and <3 it. I thought of getting the manga but was too chicken to buy something with an obviously girly cover in a store. Then I found this on youtube while trolling for anime vids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZicseNu1YM

Something clicked. I swallowed my shame, and two volumes later I think I'm hooked.

Mm, I never really got into Kare Kano. Read up to around 10 and just kinda forgot about it, hehe.

After being hammered by the cliffhanger of volume 9, I'm amazed that it could just be forgotten about by someone.

I'm >>5, so seeing the Tsuda diary for volume 8 was like looking at a doppleganger. I had experienced the same situation under near identical circumstances. I'm not alone! ;_;

I watched the series and related to it so much I bought the first 4 novels.

And I mean to buy the rest as well.

Miyazawa and Tonami inspired me to shape up, get revenge on people who have looked down on me and taken advantage of me. I trained to become kind, smart, and athletic, and soon the ones who made fun of my patheticness were the ones who were looked down on. It's all thanks to these two characters especially, because of their amazing willpower(i.e. how in the earlier novels Yukino goes to crazy lengths to achieve perfection) and dramatic improvement(i.e. Going from "Fatty Takefumi" to the strong, handsome Tonami). Kare Kano gave me motivation when I was depressed, so I owe a lot to who I am now becaue of it!whew lol, got too into it.

I just started the Arima arc, up to volume 14. You guys were right about it being a HUGE plot arc. I was like this the whole time reading it.
