Making Friends (51)

I need help making friends. Every Week of my life is the same just studying. I have nowhere to go (T_T). In school I can talk to ppl and we could become good classmates but I want friends. Does anyone have any advice?

I don't know if I'm so good with this, seeing as I have no friends myself... but, you can be very friendly and helpful. Go out of your way to say hello and be nice! It would be very cruel if they were to turn down someone being kind to them. Even if they didn't want to be your friend, at least you'd have nothing to lose.

Kill yourself and a lot of "classmates" will appear in your funeral as your friends! \o/

Join a club at school? Start a club? Ask people if they feel like casually hang out with you at some event?
Please be more clear: Do you have social problems; difficulties with approaching people - or do you just lack good ideas for how to hang out? What do you have got to work with, by the way? I.e. the surrounding area (dance-clubs, bars, the types of the people you wish to hang out with), as well as your age.

There is no way to just meet strangers randomly if you are shy. You have to take up a musical instrument, go to a club, go to church, or something.

I have no friends. I blame no one but myself :)

Yup. Try something you enjoy where you can meet people who enjoy the same thing.

I think some of us are just meant to be singular "by design". Maybe its because we have this inner space which is impossible to relate to the outside world? I'm alone alot, but i've never ever been bored. The "goings on" inside my brain is by far more spectacular than any movie. I make my own decisions. I have my own opinions about things. I do the thinking myself, I don't need to be with 5 "friends" to have the collective brainpower to think about something cool to do. So, to all loners of the world, rise up and unite! Together, we're not alone...?

Are you in school? If so, take the school bus home. Go outside instead of staying in all day.

good question lol.

you could invite a few of your classmates out to go see a movie or something after class. if it goes well you'll have more to talk about. i think the way to become good friends with someone is to be around them a lot and become comfortable with them.

It tried to arrange something for friday but they all ditched me. (0_0) I guess I should get used to being alone.

31 Name: Anonymous : 2006-12-07 13:01 ID:URd6ZGoE

why don't u have friends anyway? classmates could easily become friends (or enemies). maybe you should just ditch studying for friends.

just be yourself. be kind to others and others will be kind to you. it MAY work. it's not all successfull though. people might take advantage of the kindness.

I'm not the OP, but another friendless loser. I have freedom for 3 months (school's out, hooray :/ ). I do not want to sit at home all day. I'm going to get a job for the summer, somewhere around here, and attempt to befriend the people there. Is this an outline for a good plan. I think it is. I'll talk to people and ask them questions to extract information from them, even if I'm not particularly interested in them. I'll be honest, but I know I need not tell them everything about me...

As others say: Be yourself.
Also interests that you may have can also help find you friends. Whether they have the same interests or even different. You don't have to have similar interests to be friends, but I find it helpful.
Talk to your classmates, find out what they like. Open up times and ask if they'd like to go hangout somewhere sometime.
It took me quite a while to find new friends at my new school, until I found some people with the same interests as I and I began to hangout with them.

yeah. what >>35 said. but don't just jump into a group. sometimes they will just shun you. or you will just not know what the heck they are talking about. talk to one person at a time, and if he/she/he-she/she-he has a group of friends he/she/he-she/she-he hang out with, try to join in. That's what i think.

If you want friends, the best way to do it is join/start a club of some sort. Whatever interests you, basically. Also, check out your local comic book/game shops, the ones that are privately owned rather than large franchises. These kinds of places tend to have fliers for things like D&D groups and whatnot, and they're also hotspots for meeting other people. If comics and games aren't your thing, going to whatever your favorite store happens to be frequently would work, too. I call this "friend fishing". Works wonders if you do it right. Just need to build your courage a bit.

maybe i am paranoid but i sense people keep avoiding chatting with me.
Perhaps i explain to much when we chat, to the point that they are bored of listening things they have no interest with.
Can help?

I used to have that, its alright aslong as you're explaining something interesting ie something you're passionate about, but dont go explaining the intricacies of how you took a shit or anything

I dunno, that could be interesting in its own way, like how one applies pressure on the turd to try and navigate it through the anus. Fascinating stuff.
