So yeah, I feel like the main part of learning about life and growing up is finding a reason to bother living it. Anyone have any tips on where to start looking? I feel rather overwhelmed by it all.
I expect there's a whole category of hikkis who are just bored.
Strange isn't it?
Get out of your home, get drunk once or twice so you do things you wouldn't do while sober.
Then stop drinking and realize some stuff is actually really fun to do.
Like someone once said: "life sucks, make fun of it".
well i guess there only 2 wayz to live life:
1- empty it (spiritual way)
2- fill it (materialistic way)
1 is the most simple, so logically i'd go with that
just throw away all ur belongings, tell everyone to fuck off, be a hermit and spend all time doing bodily functions.
u see, animals always did that and no animal ever suicided himself, so it must be ok, amirite?
see ya

do you have a hobby of some sort? begin with that. if that doesn't work, then don't bother looking. just wander around places, and the reason to bother living might come to you.
What >>5 said. Also, try and make friends- good ones, not sucky ones who think they're better than you. It works wonders.
Go to different and new places. Go to the park and listen to some music. If you're an animu fag like me then go explore different genres and watch stuff that's not released in the 21st century (i.e. classics).
Laugh at yourself.
Whatever happens, happens.
You can't change the past.
Step 1ne: fuck everyone. wait, that didn't come out right. lets try again.
Step 1ne: Don't care what anyone thinks about you. if someone makes you feel like shit, chances are you don't need them.
there we go.
Step 2wo: find something you enjoy doing that doesn't have negative repercussions, like art, music, sports, aimlessly fun internet, video games, whatever. if you really love doing it, chances are there is a career based around it. nobody has "no future".
Step 3hree: laugh at everything. everything is weird and funny. love it all.
Step 4our: be yourself, unabashedly. do what you like to do, have fun with everything.
Step 5ive: realize that school is just a stupid little pimple on the face of life. school doesn't matter one fucking little tiny bit. Every teacher you have is a teacher for one reason: they couldn't find a job in their field. They're a failure. English teachers couldn't find a job in ANY field. Once you get out of high school, you represent, think for, and ARE yourself. Hang in there, life gets a fuck of a lot better when school ends.
Step 6ix: 4-ch. it's awesome. love it. so is the rest of the internet, actually.
Also, don't try to change the past, or manipulate any future other than your own.
Nothing is worth freaking out about. If something is wrong, fix it as best you can, don't worry about what you can't fix.
It's all good, hang in there.
Thanks guys, things are getting a little better here. Progress is slow, but nevertheless, 頑張る!
keep us posted :D
>Step 3hree: laugh at everything. everything is weird and funny. love it all.
This bit wears on me. I just get all stressed because I don't spontaneously laugh at everything. Seems forced. It doesn't come naturally to me the way you say.
>if someone makes you feel like shit, chances are you don't need them.
Is that just cognitive self therapy (ie. basically lying to yourself in order to be happy, which sort of seems like escapism, which is kind of the problem that hikkis have) or does everybody in the world just ignore it when a large percentage of the people they meet are telling them how useless and low they are (basically me in highschool)? Seems a bit boneheaded to think "OH I NEVER NEEDED THEM ANYWAY!" when they likely had a fucking point. Seems a bit ignorant and self absorbed to think the way you suggest.
>>12 I think what he means is that People who give you more suffering then "good", it is better to let them go and move ahead. It's not about "i never needed them anyway", it's more "i dont need them anymore".
But that doesn't mean if you have one fight or whatever you should let it go. Just go with your feeling. My Best friend and i had tons of fights in the past; betrayal, etc...But after 20 years of friendship (met at 3years old) we are still close as ever..i don't think no one can come between that. I guess i do believe in him, because without..i would've been long dead inside.
As for >>1 , i agree with above suggestions. Do what you like, sometimes go find something new (break your routine). You might up meeting someone at an anime convention, or game whatever..it does happen (happened to me when i went ALONE).
Goodluck!
The happiness and most successful people in life are those who push themselves and plan meticulously. Ayn Rand said that the purpose of life is finding an occupation that is both productive and fulfilling. Find work that interests you, and begin interacting with the real (and only!) world in a positive way.
