The big problem here is that >>1-san's problem ties in with his views of society! Our society is not perfect, and this is what is one of the major things that draws people away from it! In these days when people have fantasy worlds at their fingertips and it is possible to make money by typing things into a computer, there is seemingly no reason to step outside into the chaos portrayed on the news.

Apart from that, there's the issue of the difficulty of relating to other people in the social web of the outside world, where one is judged for much more than the sum of one's ideas, as on the internet. Why would these people wish to step outside when in the past, all they have recieved from the outside world is pain and misunderstanding?

The big point is that the world IS imperfect, but there are also many beautiful things that cannot happen if you do not try to participate in it a little. Interpersonal relationships are one of if not the most rewarding things in the world. Working and making money to support oneself gives one a great feeling of accomplishment. Studying something one loves makes one feel pride in oneself. I hope that everyone can feel this positive self-image that eluded me for so long.
