Does the little activity have anything to do with the current financial situation, though?

Whenever 4chan has been in trouble, similar discussions seem to arise:

  • "Oh no we have been using bandwidth!"
  • "Let's delete some boards!"
  • "But not the boards I happen to like."

and much bitching ensues.

Let's discuss the real situation at hand and not some typcial case of discussion, okay?

As I see it, the major bandwidth drainages are the imageboards, not the discussion boards.

Merging the boards now doesn't seem like it would make much sense as they could soon be split up again. Seperation / merging is also an issue more than slightly different from deleting a board completely.

>Cashing cheques from foreign countries costs a fuckload and takes a while to clear, which is why I abstain from it.

Is that the same for international money orders?

>>15
No, merging doesn't have much to do with the financial situation. I piped up because Squeeks mentioned he was waiting for more demand for it. I am also interested in the inclusion of those other topics. Sure it might be a "wapanese" board, but I think there isn't enough traffic for separate boards right now.

I don't believe I can cash international money orders unless its issuer (aka the place you got it from) has a branch here. "Here" just happens to be Brisbane, Australia for me.

Final word: I am not merging the manga and anime boards. Too much fuck around when/if the boards ever separate. I will however look at offloading the videogames board, or something. Right now I've got my weekend for work, and setting up the new layout which gets applied to all the boards (bar this one).

The paypal button on the sidebar opens inside the sidebar. Can you add target="_top" to the <form> tag or something?

There should be a button on the "Donate" page as well, as the imageboards link directly there.

What about changes to the code to take off bandwidth? I am mostly thinking about these approaches:

http://4-ch.net/tech/kareha.pl/1100254230/8

http://wakaba.c3.cx/sup/kareha.pl/1110938838

Fixed.

Kareha already responds with HTTP 304 headers (Data not modified) and that alone saves a bit of bandwidth. Secondly the automatic l50 would be cool, but, threads here aren't long enough to make any big gain from it now.

I still don't see a donation button on the donation page...

Stop blocking images from Paypal then.
