It is not often that a cartoon can evoke such absolute malicious feelings in me. NO. I think I would have committed illegal acts if I had actually watched the entire thing. People praised this bullshit!? Narutaru is BY FAR the worst anime ever. Horrible drawing, but I can deal with that. Main characters are middle schoolers with obvious adult voices, and they talk like they're fucking adults anyway! FINE let's pretend they're geniuses. Now these children bully each other in way's only serial killers and rapists in our society behave. FINE they're sadistic. But after 3.5 random episodes I literally feel- NO not feel I WOULD murder the author of this tale, because it is absolutely AWFUL. It is an absolute disgrace to anime. This is as unrealistic as it gets, and what's worse is that they try to pull it off with a serious face!? I actually feel repulsion to the fact that this shit sat on my harddrive for however many weeks before I finally decided to judge if it was worth watching. If anyone here has got a worse anime; please be my guest and share. This isn't even about taste and whether you are more into DBZ or Sailor Moon or anthing like that. My pick for worst anime ever is any anime where anyone trips, slips, and accidentally falls on top of a luscious pair of breasts or face-first onto a nubile vagina (which is a lot of anime). Maybe it's because I aint Japanese, but I'm sorry, I haven't tripped and fallen since I was about 12 years old. If falling face down into someones tits is so commonplace that it wouldn't lead to you getting arrested for sexual harassment, I'd probably hear about it by now.

It's all exageration, but some anime take it out of the box, and by far, lots of anime take it out of the box and into the trash.

I'm not sure if anime is an exaggeration of reality, I thought anime was simply a vehicle for telling stories. Whether it's exaggerated or realistic is really up to the creators to decide.

Some series like DBZ do run on for too long with the same plot. I just can't say it's a good anime. Though it did have its good parts I guess. The thing with sailor moon (lota people dissing) is that this anime is for kids. Little girls who pretend they're princesses so you kind of have to take it from that perspective. You start out with a whiney junior high school who EVENTUALLY yes she eventually does get more mature.

Mahoromantica...cloned story, bad character, bad subbing...overall just hated it.

the second worst anime I ever watched was neon genesis evangelion. For some reason I watched this show avidly many moons ago, but after seeing some anime gems like Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo I finally realized how bad it was.

1) Throughout much of the series none of the non-Saiyan characters are important except as hostages/victims/comic relief. This includes the warriors who in the DragonBall series (notably less sucky) who are so blantantly overshadowed by the three or so main characters.

2) Each episode consists primarily of dramatic pauses and power-up sequences, meaning a total of 45 frames of animation appear per show.

3) Story arcs are way too long, dragged out primarily by the aforementioned with remaining time given to taunts and cliche'd philosophical waxing best described as 'white space'.

I stand by my opinion that narutaru and excel saga are bad. If they had children, hell would freeze over. If people think these are good anime, it makes me wonder what people in general think of as a good anime. Ex: Graveyard of the Fireflies. I don't care if I'm crossing genres, point is, no matter what genre if something is well done, then it's well done. If not, then obviously no. The thing about narutaru is that no matter how much they tried to unsugarcoat things, they did so by exagerating situations. Something as simple as the way that they talked was like Bush suddenly grew a brain and good vocabulary with proper pronounciation. I mean it's just illogical. And I'm saying that not in reference to the fact that there's magic crap in the show, but no matter how sci-fi or fantasy genre you get the point is that the characters remain human, so that the audience can step in their shoes and really feel the situation. In narutaru everything is so farfetched that you can't sit through five minutes of the show without losing interest.

I've had lots of evil thoughts in mind. I've almost acted on a lot of them, but none the less I didn't act them out in a cheesy way like this. I've seen and experienced bullying at the elementry level, and it isn't anything like that. Most kids don't know enough anyway. See I wouldn't have such a problem with the show if they didn't try to slop all of this on like underdeveloped children. There's some things you just don't have a full scope on as kids. For me, DBZ was my first anime (be it good or bad to others) so it holds a place for me. I steer clear of that mainstream stuff like Witch Hunter Robin or Inuyasha simply because its the shit Cartoon Network licenses and dubs to shit.

anyway the rule for bad anime is basically if anybody who isn't me has seen it, it's total shit. basically anime is only cool five minutes after the raw is released. after that somebody watches it. after THAT somebody fansubs it, so it's half as cool right there. if somebody licenses it for US release, its coolness plummets to ten percent and god forbid they show it on US television, because then an already shitty show loses all of its credibility.

I know. I watched an episode of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo last night on Toonami, and I could hardly understand it. I heard it is full of Japanese jokes and untranslatable pop-culture references, but, if it is, they were either removed in favor of weirder stuff, directly translated (leaving non-Japanese watching the show confused), or just left in without explanation, or aybe I missed a lot because I was taping the show, and half-watching it and also half-chatting on IRC.

Either way, it's certainly weird. Viz also left on a ton of Japanese text, which I can read, but which probably leaves many people rolling around in their chairs from confusion over what those weird symbols mean. It was kind of funny, thoguh, in a really weird way.

I also just looked up who writes it on Wikipedia, and it's written by Yoshio Sawai. Feel free to do a Google search for him and report on if he really does crack or not.

I watched this garbage until Ep13 before giving up. I really should have done it right after the first episode. Ok, so the hero (don't remember and don't wanna remember his name) dies, sorta, and encounters Shana. Who repeatedly tell him to stop asking stupid questions and fuck off, yet every time she goes GTFO she turns around moments later and gives a long long long explanation about what's going on. WTF? Also clumsy, because long ass explanations break up the flow of the story.

Sadly this show is so fucking scared of confusing the school schildren watching this shit that it's constantly holding them by the hand and making everything absolutely crystal clear. Yah, I said school children. Don't kid yourself that this is aimed only at otakus. This is an anime for boys whose voice just broke. The otaku elements are there so the children can go "Wow, this is so grownup!". Nothing bad about kid's shows per se, but just don't fool yourself about the demographics here. The only thing an otaku is slavering for in this show is loli-Shana.

And naturally we get a scene with one of the most distasteful instances of fanservice I've seen. It's not just because loli-Shana takes off her clothes, but because the scene sticks out like a sore thumb. It's simply so clumsily inserted. And the clumsiness doesn't end there because "subtle" is not a word in the director's dictionary. The sooper dooper dramatic music will play even when it's not appropriate. After all, gotta start building that tension early on. Oh, and the OP ED songs are mediocre shit and not the wow cool like you stupid kids with no taste claim.

To fit the background music almost everybody delivers their lines with great exaggeration. To top it off many have those obligatory speech quirks that in this show fails at sounding cute. The maid (yes, gotta have one) that trained Shana finishes her evey sentence with a robotic emotionless "de arimasu". Marjorie's book is apparently supposed to sound only a bit annoying but that over the top laughter seriously made me hope she would chuck the tome in the nearest lake. And the incestous twins, ugh. I guess it's supposed to be oh so shocking, titillating and of course grownup. Except any effect is ruined by the retarded brother whose voice actor incredibly enough manages to make himself sound even more annoying than when he played Joshua in Chrno Crusade (Fuck you Shana for making me write a run-on sentence). When the twins die it's enough to make an atheist sing the praises to God.

Or perhaps not, because despite all that buildup of tension the villains all die so easily after about three episodes on the stage. After all, the show is basically about Shana and that what's-his-name. Shana is of course a tsundere bitch who yells "Urusai, Urusai!" whenever our hero asks her something. It's supposed to sound cute I guess but subtlety subtlety, let's make it clear just how cute Shana is by landing her with another affection, melon bread. Hay guyz, din'ya know? That bread went stale with DearS.

This show is made of so much fail that every time I was thinking that maybe it was getting better, it would dash my hopes within minutes. If like me you can see from early on that Shakugan no Shana is all flash and no substance, drop it because it ain't gonna improve later on.

When I watch The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, I am reminded of Parkinson's disease, an affliction of the brain causing characteristic movement abnormalities that appears mainly in elderly people. I applaud the team behind The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya for their realization of the dark future that awaits us. I condemn them for concealing it behind layers of comedy and irrelevant posturing, so only the most astute may recognize the true meaning of the show. All of the people of Earth must be informed of the downward spiral of genetic deterioration they are progressing along, before they are too stupid to comprehend it, so that they may wholeheartedly support the eugenics programs necessary to save our proud human race.

I didn't like the DB series in general; I guess it was mainly the animation style and the use of dragonballs as a sort of quest or overall plot.

With the subsequent seasons, it just got worse and worse; reused cells, entire episodes dedicated to a bunch of dudes staring each other down, with flashes of attempted comedic relief, before some actual story and action.

Negima! the anime.
While overall, I was satisfied with the voice actresses, I hated the animation style. On the other hand, Negima?! was more true to the art style used in the manga, had a completely different story. Similar thing happened with Love Hina and the OVA.

As for ones I like:

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu
Why? Not because everyone says it's popular, but because of it's style: brainless and random. It's like watching an exaggerated sitcom, except you have a girl who apparently has the ability to manipulate the whole universe, a squeaky timetraveler, a boy with ESP, and an alien that can manipulate the surrounding reality.

...Sounds like a bad setting to a sitcom but I liked it.

Elfen Lied:
One reason: I shed some tears. I actually shed some tears because of some anime. The story was a little confusing around about the source of the vectors and the telekinetic abilities of the girls (felt like a bunch was left out, like the boss having horns >.>), though I was happy with it, and one can't argue it's one of the worst anime there is; there's worse.

Excel Saga:
A random anime that parodies other anime in a sense. Same with Puni Puni Poemi, except with the subject of magical girls and hentai.

Ouran Highschool Host Club:
Liked it, was mainly tricked into watching the first three episodes before I realized it was a bishounen anime; kept watching it through out and noticed that it reminded me of Kodocha.

Bartender:
More out of interest, but also it has a softer feel than some of the stuff I've seen; more sentimental, as it talks about the meanings of spirits and roles a bartender plays for the patron. Only in Asia; in America, I doubt shit like this happens in real life. Maybe a bartender calling a cab for a patron who had too much to drink, but the meanings of drinks...meh...

Hey I thought the Street Fighter II Animated movie was excellent! good story (although not the actual story), good voice acting, good artwork, has every character from SFII, although Akuma made only a cameo in one scene, hidden cameos (for example you see some of the characters strike their display picture poses), overall it just did the SFII series justice.

However the anime series SFIIV and the American Cartoon weren't so good, and the Alpha movie sucked, and Alpha Generations was decent

To everyone on the thread, you contradict the laws of physics and the Universe. There are those that are win, those that are fail, and then there are the ones that go in between that get warped both ways. But everything sucks, and everything wins. Do as you like.

To my main point, Bo-Bo-Bo isn't something to think about. It's more of a watch, use your brain a little bit, then laugh. Honestly, the main plot is just all about overthrowing the evil king that wants the world to be bald (Well, Hair on a girl's head IS something you want, right? Not that I'm saying you shouldn't like bald girls, it's just I don't find them attractive. Nor does 80% of the human male population.). Yes, Bobobo does get sidetracked by some epic battle, but honestly, BOBOBO IS JUST A FUCKING PARODY OF ANIME that doesn't take much to think about. Also, don't think that the US Dubbed version sucks. They did take some creative liberty of not making it entirely about Japanese Culture (which I know some, not all, about; also, they did an interesting skit where bobobo takes a test all in Japanese and rewrote that he just doodles all over it because he's in america now). Another thing, about the Japanese text in the background, I'm sure that spending $250,000 isn't a good amount to spend on overlapping the text (there's at least 3-10 accounts of this.).

Rotoscoping over the text is a cardinal sin unless you put that in the subtitle track so that it can be turned off. Unfortunately DVD format is really bad for that because the subtitles are fixed to some shittily low resolution (512x512?) which doesn't match the resolution of the DVD itself.

Sorry if I accidentally bump this, but I just had to get the rage out... It's hard for me to decide one particular anime I hate over the many I do; Blood +, Trinity Blood, Inuyasha.. although I suppose I'll choose Naruto, since it's still going on.
I don't know who to be pissed off at though! Cartoon Network for airing this pile of crap, or John Q. Public for eating the crap with a spoon!
This series has no character development. None! The characters as they are now are exactly the same as they were in their debut episode! They overuse flashback sequences (that provide no new info) which got old by episode 10, and the training episodes which encompass about 1/3 of the series are boring as all holy hell! At least Bleach manages to make the training watchable by have Ichigo fight Zangetsu... Naruto just gets handed a rubble ball and told to "wing it" for five to eight episodes. All the characters manage to piss me off due to the fact that they only have one character trait... Naruto is overly-ambitious, Sasuke is overly-brooding, Sakura is overly-PMSin' (repeat for the cast of 100+ characters...) and of course, they'll stay that way for the rest of the series unless they get killed off, or in Anko's case, written out of the story. (Anko's dismissal is another griefence I have with it. She was one of the hottest characters, less annoying that the rest, and she was heavily tied to Orochimaru's past. But nah, we'll just throw her away and introduce 40 new characters to make people forget about the story potential with Anko and focus on training to raise Naruto's powerlevel.)

I mean, God Damn. All this series is good for is porn, and now that it's on TV 24/7, that means a lot more crappy art will be flooding the net.

(Note: Almost everything I said about Naruto can be applied to Inuyasha. Seriously, adult swim, if you wanna appeal to a female crowd, I'd rather watch hardcore yaoi that hear Kagome bitch and Inuyasha be a general ass, and everybody else just be plan annoying.)

And for God sakes, I have a really high tolerance for crap! I watched all of Dragonball Z, and even a few episodes of Dragonball GT! Anybody who can survive GT deserves a medal!

Naruto. I consider this the poorest excuse for anime ever to defile my computer screen. Maybe it's good if you're a ten year old boy, but I can't see where the appeal is for other viewers.

At least some of the other anime commonly complained about, like inuyasha and bleach, aren't as horribly riddled with poor attempts at shamefully immature humour. I seem to recall naruto mischeviously turning into naked women and getting diahorea from bad milk or something like that... so not funny. Well, perhaps it was less so further along in the series- i watched about five episodes before i simply couldn't stand it anymore.

Bleach in my opinion is worse than inuyasha, largely because inuyasha is a lot older- bleach is what I consider below standard for a current anime, while inuyasha wasn't as bad for it's time, considering it was a quickly produced, many episoded and mostly cell animated thing.

Code geass i think has a lot to answer for... they aren't doing the storyline justice at all. It could have been great, especially with those characters and their relationships to each other. Instead it comes off rushed, cliched, and too obviously seems to have assumed you aready like the characters and think they're cool. A terrible shame.

I personally hate most of the shonen series because they're all the same crap over and over and over again. Some show's like Hunter X Hunter do an awesome job, but naruto, inuyasha, and bleach suck so much. Almost everything that's popular isn' any good. Usually the reason shows are so popular is because they appeal to all the weaboos and fan girls and stuff. They're just trying to sell rather than make a good show, which is obvious by seeing how long some of these shows run.

And for all the haters, Excel is good if you get it's supposed to be a parody and there's just enough plot so that the show can get away with just being random. If you don't like it watch more anime and try to get the references to other animes.

Excel Saga manga is much better than the anime though. I propose they remake the anime to be based on the manga (the previous one was only vaguely related to it.)

332 here. I assume 335 was talking to me. It's not that the stoies are the same, is that they usually follow the same plot and are all pretty similar. Like throw in action, and humor, and bishojo, and bishonen, and everyone getting stronger. Plots are different, but essentially they're the same. All of them more or less start with people starting and not being that good, then fight progressively stronger and stronger people, perhaps lose occassionally, and they don't even try to hide that sometimes so it wears thin really easily. Not all shonen are like this and the way the show is actually keeps it going.

Ragnarok: The animation.

It had loose morals in which the heroes did the most damage.

The male lead stabs a Munak in the back who was pleading with the female lead to help save her and her people.

The heroes venture into a friendly ant colony that welcomed them until one of the heroes goes mad and starts setting shit on fire. End result, they had to slaughter an innocent ant race of hundreds who were only trying to defend themselves.

The female merchant hacked up her own best friend with an axe because she mistook her for a monster.

The anime doesn't even breed an atmosphere as something that is dark and twisted, which makes it even more disturbing.

I liked the oringinal Dragon Ball. The later sagas made the characters hard to identify with them.

The orginal series was peopled with characters that one could see had gained strength because of their hard work. I understand that this stayed in the later but it just seems that to many of them got powers just because they were Saiyins or for some other reason.

It tries to be deep but isn't. Evangelion's original series failed on so many levels due to boring 2D characters. The movie adaptations are a bit better because it cuts out some angst and improves on the already good mech, world, and monster designs. Evangelion is the FF7 of the anime world. It sucks major cock because of its story and still people will still keep on liking it (like Naruto, except more serious and less mainstream).

It's like they had a checklist of situations and encounters, got nervous and blew them all over the first two episodes. They were so busy trying to make you look at poorly-thought-out character's goodies that they forgot to make some reasons to care about any of the characters. Christ, not even the guy has any distinguishing traits. It's like the set the fanservice shotgun to "whore"

they might as well as stamped "Obligatory" on every freakin character. Obligatory Coward-Chauvanist Authority Male. Obligatory chic who hates guys. Obligatory "Can't see the guy's eyes because he's determined" shot. Obligatory tearful reconcilliation. 1000 x Obligatory panty shots. It's only the second freakin' eipsode! Christ, save some of these for later!

Legend of the Overfiend... is pure crap. Back in the days when anime was semi-hard to find I sold it multiple times, but it always found its way back to me... I couldn't get rid of it!
