I'm German.
I want to learn what you think of Germany.
Please tell me.

Speaking of Germany,I recall some historical persons.

Georg Wilhem Friedrich Hegel,Immanuel Kant, and Adolf Hitler.

Well, obviously Germany's history is always going to
be on my mind when I think of the country...

But that doesn't mean that I associate modern Germany
with that.

I like beer and sausage.

Thanks Germany.

The cars (BMW, Mercades, VW, Audi, etc). And speaking of cars, the autobaum. Man I wish we had roads without speed limits. Also beer and the sexual liberalism. I know a girl from Germany and her parents really don't care if she drinks and if she has sex. It could be just her family but it is my impression. And the German engineering, some of the best stuff in the world but is being out shown by India and Japan.

I like Germany very much and I would like to relocate there in the future. I do not know what it is that I love about the place, but it just feels right to me.

As for German history, people need to remember that Germany has a history before 1933 and they should read up on some of the atrocities that their own countries committed before they point the finger at Germany.

The old West Germany seems to be very modern, very cool, maybe more so than say, the US. The East part...they have some problem now, do they not?

German language sounds so rough though. I think it's my least favorite of Germanic languages.

I'm a bit of a science geek, so I'll show deference to one of the world's giants in this respect. Before Hitler and his apes ruined everything, Germany was the undisputed world leader in several fields of science. Luckily, many of the "wizards" got out alive before the gassing began. Still, I can't help but wonder how far science would've progressed by now if the Nazis hadn't cannibalised German universities.

After Japanese my choice for a 4th language would be German. Germans are really active in internet and they are knowledgeable. Also that Crytek, my favorite 3d Engine developers are in Germany.

Parts of east germany is drowned in neonazis due to a high unemployment rate. :/ The NPD gets a lot of votes there from nazis. :/

Germany's pretty cool I guess. Though it's a pity so much of it was destroyed in the war. Lost a lot of cultural heritage in those bombings, which is why Germany just doesn't seem as neat a country to visit as say, Austria. But then again, I guess Germany only had so much cultural heritage to begin with : 3

20 Name: Anonymous : 2007-07-11 21:19 ID:Heaven

seems okay I guess.

weird thing: I can't think of any cultural monuments in Germany. Other major countries no problem, but I draw a blank with Germany (with the exception of that crazy huge volkshalle which was never built).

Is the German language as weirdly fragmented as Italian?

I have some German chocolate here. It is rather good and unsweetened and stuff.

Also they measure things in kJ. That amuses me. Also, there are a LOT of kJ in it.

The only reason everyone hates on Germany for their gigantic oops is because the Jews control the media, or smth.

There are monuments just not as world-wide-known perhaps. ;)

The streets smell like beer and the trash is never collected on time. It's the worst country in the world.

> what is your German name?

Not sure why you ask twice, two minutes apart.
It can take days to get replies here, so don't get impatient. 4-ch seemed to get a fair bit of traffic from Germany, but it dropped of considerably.

My ancestors emigrated from the Empire a century ago, family name of Borutzki.

32 Name: Anonymous : 2007-07-20 04:19 ID:4gbxPuY+

>>31

Don't mean to offend you, but Borutzki doesn't sound very German, sounds more Slavic, like it might be Polish or Russian in origin.

Quite possible.

33 Name: Anonymous : 2007-07-20 06:15 ID:XpHB5wss

>>32

No offense taken, the name was modified a few times in family history, mainly to avoid strong anti-german sentiment. The adaptation was indeed intended to appear Polish, and was further modified in this direction. That's the name that was used on the ship's passenger manifest. I'm not clear on what the original surname was.

Germany's borders and demographics have changed considerably since then, obviously.
