I came here because I started to read the CMX version of Densha Otoko. It was hilarious and really cute! I hope it was a true story.

I like the CMX version the bestest :/ I dunno...i'm a bit picky with the manga styles. Anyway, it also comes out with better character devlopment imo :/

I'm not really into romantic stories, but I saw the live-action movie, and I cried. I like that movie so much!

Densha otoko is basically train man in japanese but it originated on the parent site of 2ch.it was a series of forum bulletins about a man who met a girl but couldt get up the nerves to talk to her. It actually happened back in 2004 or so.
Not long after the events played out, they decided to take the forum posts and publish them into a book.

Due to its best seller status, it was adapted into a series of managas and television episodes.

There is currently debate as to whether or not it really happened.

What is you're problem for posting that in the first place!!!
Anybody who has ever followed 2ch has heard of it...(>.<)

Clearly this person has never heard of it.
Otherwise nobody would even have bothered asking this.
plus, the explanations for the title werenmt doing it asny justice so I had to step inh and say something. If that is wrong then so be it I would rather have it in the clear That there is some actual information about the series to be handed out instead of a mixed hash of what densha otoko is.

Hes using a shitty ass meme that was popular for a grand total of 5 minutes got old then failed. Other peope tried to bring it back, and they failed to generate popularity.

Good try though

52 Name: Random Manga Otaku : 2008-01-26 13:27 ID:Heaven

I don't think it can qualify as a true meme unless scores of people all over the Internet started pretending to have similar experiences.

You could always stage it. You know, find an old guy who can play the part of the drunk, give him a bottle of scotch so he can make it more realistic, and then jump to the rescue.

Except I fear that in real life, that day would be the one day the rail security guards are actually doing their job.

I love this series. I'm watching the live action now. I wish I could experience something like those characters. They make the internet and actual "nice" place to be. (Which we know for a fact is bullshit.)

Though I'm not much of a reader, the book still got me engaged (since it's in the form of a forum thread, which is prolly the only thing I'll ever spend time reading in my life).

And I love the way they keep the cute AA in the book, I actually learnt to create some AA after reading it. ^^

Densha, O Taco! is a traditional Mexican dish composed of a rolled, folded, pliable maize or wheat tortilla that can be filled with a wide variety of edible substances.

Get the hell out.

72 Name: Random Manga Otaku : 2008-08-12 08:21 ID:oDI2adHE

Densha Otoko, or 'Train Man' was a 2-channer who helped out a group of ladies from being harassed from a drunk guy on the train. One of the ladies ends up sending him a thank-you present (Some pretty high-class stuff). He wants to thank her for the cups, but was having difficulty doing so, since he was quite a big geek at the time. So he ends up asking his fellow channers for advice. Over the course of around 2 months, he sheds out of his geeky shell and gets into a full blown relationship with the woman. His whole experience was then turned into a movie, tv series, manga, and novel, which I just finished reading yesterday.

i want to add, the pretty girl sends him a HERMES brand cups that is considered as very pricey and classy to Densha, hence Densha call her as "Miss Hermes" (he doesn't her name that time).

So...will there be Miss Hermes around in reality? (I am gladly to be a hero hehehehe...)

I just bet there are a handful of Hermeses out there, but we just have to spot the one for us somewhere out there... I wonder if I'll be able to find mine... soon. (>_>)

"A hero is is always alone"

Clearly said by a character who had never seen sentai shows.

I personally thought "Densha Otoko" was an extremely moving movie. It was inspired by a true story and I think that's even more impressive as he was just like some of us, just blogging here on the forum like this one. The tale was overall a bit inspiring, but I do agree that the characters lacked depth and importance because their role other than supporting "Train Man" was otherwise vague.

I'd like to smile and think people will meet their 'Hermess' someday, just like he did.

It doesn't happen like that, Kanojou.

I'd like to think of DO as an ingenious 2ch marketing ploy. If it did happen the main character would have broken up with the female lead and /wrists, explaining his disappearance.

i think densha otokos character is cute...heheh.. thats the reason how i found out about this web...

i found this Summary fr wikipedia.org

Densha Otoko (電車男, Densha Otoko? translated as Train Man) is a Japanese movie, television series, manga, novel, and other media, all based on the purportedly true story of a 23-year-old otaku (Japanese geek) who intervened when a drunk man was harassing several women on a train. The otaku ultimately begins dating one of the women.

The event, and the man's subsequent dates with the woman, who became known as "Hermès" (エルメス, Erumesu?), was chronicled on the Japanese mega-BBS 2channel. This led to the compilation of the relevant threads in a book, followed by several manga versions, a movie, a theatrical play later released as a DVD, and finally a TV series.

Densha Otoko is a popular example of the "nice guy" class of Japanese geeks who wish to lead normal lives, but are too shy to find a girlfriend, or speak openly anywhere but online. The television series uses a large number of computer-bound extras

82 Name: Random Manga Otaku : 2009-03-25 09:51 ID:gCm+/qNW

I found an article that the real densha otoko had an interview thru email. And he mentioned that they are still dating. The interview was made at year 2006. I forgot the the month and day. The interviewer who post the article made a joke that he should be marrying the girl.
