Knowing 日本語 is bad for teachers? (7)

I was checking out Let's Japan, relevant to my interests since I wish to be a teacher in Japan after I finish school. I get the indication that knowing Japanese actually hurts you in some of these systems. Why exactly is that? Are the Japanese that afraid of you actualy understanding their own language? Someone in the know, please give me some good reasons why it can hurt to be billingual.

I don't think that knowing Japanese language hurts English teachers. Why did you get that?

Possibly, some student who don't really want to learn English, who just go to English school for a superficial fashion (unfotunately, they're majority, I guess) may not like teachers who speak Japanese -- because they want something exiotic and assume those teaches as "not pure gaijin."

Another problem, I think it a shame, is some English schools may not like their emplyees knowing the Japanese low and social insurance scheme. Since teachers who speak Japanese will know those sooner or later, the employers are reluctant to hire them.

Anyway, this board may be helpful.
