Koikoi7_01 raw: take all the most corny high-school shounen cliches, mix them and serve them at mad speed and in no special order. The chara designs are too close to the manga - they copied the errors too (the eyes are drawn too close, for one thing.)

Try Gokujo Seitokai or Futakoi Alt. Futalt's plot is going somewhere odd and uncomfortable now (~7), but according to those weird anime blog people it gets better again later.
Is there a current review site with lots of screens and quick impressions like http://jascii.net/ used to have?
Or I could just download ep01 of every single series that comes out, is that what everyone else does?

They have amazingly bad taste, but they sure watch a lot of anime raws.
I kind of like http://hkenshin.soldats.net/ too.

Gokujo Seitokai: the art/animation/plot was so bad after ep1, I gave up early. When an anime is a comedy and I'm not laughing, there's something wrong. Most likely I'm not the intended audience.
Futakoi Alt.: great start, then it became some kind of existentialist cinema, with endless instrospection. It picked some speed with the Gothic Lolita episode then went back to "I have no job" "My dad was so great" etc. The art/animation is amazing so I keep plodding thru (actually I'm fastforwarding thru nowadays, it has sunk that low to my eyes.) The ep with the twin teachers left a bitter taste - the reason they broke up is not really explained, instead they go into an acid trip scene. Maybe the anime is a metaphor for someone who lost everything because of drugs and is slowly climbing his way back?
Giving up on Gokujou Seitokai at episode 1 was the wrong decision. It's one of the few shows worth following this season.
Kamichu ep 01 raw:
Girls coming of age doing miko things, calling out spirits and stuff. Main girl is small and meek and whiny and shy but potentially powerful. Fluid animation.
So far I don't understand a single thing that's happened in Kamichu. Nice animation, though.
Kamichu ep 1 raw
WTF is this kami-sakuga?
Very good audio direction, it's coming from the same person who did Emma - really get a scale of the damage and whatever, very detailed. Great music also. I look forward to seeing more!
Okusama wa Joshi Kousei ep 01 raw:
anime adaptation of the Hiyoko Brand manga, a schoolgirl is married to a teacher in secret. Embarrassing situations ensue.
I'm a bit disappointed in the anime version. The girl in the anime version seems to suffer from exotropia (=divergent strabismus, eyes look outwards) which detracts from her manga image of a charmingly naive lovely girl. And sometimes one of her eyes is located out of place. Hopefully the animators (Koreans? I see a bunch of Korean names in the credits. No Japanese post-production Quality Control?) will have caught up to the manga style for the other episodes.
Da Capo Second Season - 01(RAW):
I need to see this subbed, it looks like good fun.
At at glance, it seems that it's a similar story to the first season, but using different characters this time. I suspect that the similarities to the first season will soon stop and branch elsewhere.
Amaenaideyo!! ep 01 raw:
Not sure what is going on in this one. Apparently, it's the story of a boy who visits an all-girl buddhist temple and falls in love with one of the girls and so ends up joining the team. Hilarity and ecchi situations ensue.
Similarly to Kamichu, the boy seems to have strong latent powers that are useful against evil spirits. Kamichu would be the shoujo version, and Amaenaideyo the shounen version.
Moeyo_Ken_TV_01 raw
A Takahashi hodge-podge. Let's see, we have ancient Japan, rocket launchers, youkais, paper shinigamis, a bunch of obasan fighters, a cocky young boy with a pigtail, a giant cat with a big appetite...
The plot plays out like a series of sketches put together, a bit stiff but probably because it's the first episode.
Pani Poni Dash! ep 01 raw
A teacher first day at school. Problem is, she's a kid so things don't pan too well. Plus, her class - actually, the whole school - no, actually the whole town - no, the whole planet and surroundings - is a bit crazy (but overall enthusiastic).
Cuteness abounds.
Okusama_wa_Mahoushoujo_01 raw:
An married, modern witch lives in a town with her mother. Husband is not there so she's lonely. New characters arrive to the scene to liven things up. A feel-good episode with warm colors, tho I suppose it's going to get darker later on.
Gun_x_Sword_01 raw
A Western from the East (Eastern?): gunfights, swords, saloons, giant robots, Western towns, nano metal. The hero is named Vash, er I mean Van. Not Van the Stampede or anything, just Van. And his trench coat is black, not red.
Sugar_Sugar_Rune_01 raw
Some Queen from some magical world sends her 2 daughters to the human world/school for training. One has blue clothes and is subdued, the other has red clothes and is unruly. Everybody has way too much make-up and jewelry and weird hairdos, even the men. A bad example for the young viewers, methinks. At least in school the extravagancy is toned down, whew. Chara design is standard shoujo, tho I find this one here a bit creepy.
For some reason I kept falling asleep while trying to watch the episode... ^^; I gave up before the end. The art and animation is well done but there is no life in it.
TIDE-LINE_BLUE_01 raw
A planet that doesn't look like Earth, or more likely Earth got partially submerged. People are living a simple life in a remote island, near a military base (uh-oh). Things get heated up suddenly as many life-changing events begin to take place.
A grand saga it seems. Some very dramatic moments, wow. And the ostrich is a riot.
Suzuka_01 raw
A boy arrives in a new town and will work at a bathhouse while srudying. The neighbors are all pretty girls, as well the landlord and her daughter. The only other man in sight is in the preview, and looks like a rival.
Typical hentai anime plot, animation style and dialog. But without any unf action, it's just a simple love story.
Akahori Gedou Hour Rabuge ep 01 raw
Parody. Incompetent alien dirty pair clone versus 5 competent human magical witches. All girls. It feels a bit like Puni Puni Poemi, but with much less of the manic pace and the over-the-top jokes.
Animation is of high quality. Pretty to look at.
SHUFFLE!_01 raw
A schoolboy who is hesitating between several girls get chosen to be the husband of two non-human girls. "What?" Well, it's not well explained in the episode either. The teaser/preview explained more than ep1: the human world connected with two other worlds, the devils and the angels. So now non-human exchange students are in schools.
I was distracted in this ep1 by the shadows of the characters: from one scene to the next, the shadows are never at the same place, and in one scene there is even two charas with opposite lighting. ^^;
Ep1 plays at a much more leisurely pace than the teaser, I think I liked the teaser better. OTOH the soundtrack for the teaser was cheap h-game music, which has been corrected in ep1.
The girls all look the same, except for the hair and the ears. Even the personalities seem to stem from the same mold. Hopefully this will change in future episodes.
Tide Line Blue
Great animation, good direction (keeps my attention) and nice visuals overall (though knowing the director I'm wary of whether the 3D will get too obnoxious). The story might just be interesting, but we don't know yet so I won't say anything. The characters are a little familiar but also a little different. The big thing that makes you wonder is why the hell was the main female lead pregnant at the age of 16? Who screwed her? Was it rape? Personally I can feel there's something different about the character relationships compared to most anime. Firstly the main girls in the seires are both older than the guys (16 and 19 vs two 14 year olds). Secondly it's not like people are really mean - Teen may have seemed a little mean but he was still nice enough to ask them to come over to his ship. And also, usually in most adventure stories you don't have a little baby tagging along. Now how is Kiiru going to play a 'father'ly role? Which anime have we seen where 14 year olds do that?
Ok, that's enough crap for now.
Petopeto-san ep 01 raw:
Looks like a variant of Shuffle!, but instead of demons/angels at school, the foreign students are youkai (=demons, monsters, goblins). One boy gets stuck on a youkai girl, and they have to sleep to get rid of the curse. But the boy is young and he can't sleep with the girl he felt in love at first sight so close to him. Hilarity ensues (or not).
GUN SWORD Instant Review:
Van (NOT SPIKE) has a very goth costume and his gimmicks seem to be apathy and covering all his food in condiments. His opponent in episode 1 is, as far as I can tell, transplanted from Bobobobobo Bobobo. I don't care about anything else, that guy and his constant shouting of LUCKY are enough to make up for anything. I'm sold.
MUTEKI! SUTEKI!
episode 2 addendum: he fights a legion of mustache fighters led by "Baron Mayor". I still think this is actually Bobobo.
Ichigo_Mashimaro_01 raw
Very young girls doing cute nothings. One quarter of the episode was about fighting sleepingness while working on a birthday present. Zzzzz...
> Zzzzz...
Comment on the episode, or your reaction?
Wouldn't that be the same, kinda?
It's a pedo lolicon anime. It's not supposed to feature anything but very young girls doing cute nothings.
>Comment on the episode, or your reaction?
Both.
I mean, it's well animated, and it does appeal to one's "mother's instinct", seeing one's kids growing up and trying to do things that are difficult for kids, things like that.
But I failed to get involved. The kids are working their asses off to make a birthday present for the older sister, but the older sister comes out as a lazy, revengeful, chain smoker bitch, so why should I care that she gets a birthday present? ^^;
Yeah yeah I know, in the end she shows up to be compassionate... in the very end. And even then she had to go and scribble on the girl's face some (nasty?) comment. Oh boy. This place needs some parenting... hey where is everybody, anyway? I have yet to see a single other soul around.
>This place needs some parenting... hey where is everybody, anyway? I have yet to see a single other soul around.
see 133 for your explanation
I fail to see this episode as being "lolikon".
No sex, no naked children, no older men lusting for younger ones (whee, "Card Captor Sakura"), no kids undressing getting filmed by grown-ups (whee, "Paranoia Agent"), no nothing.
Don't confuse lolicon with pedo. It isn't the same thing.
You're not reading the show quite right. It's not supposed to be heartwarming stories about people showing compassion, it's understated character-driven humor about people who act badly, while still being cute. Cute, and appealing to the pedos, there's no denying that.
And if you don't care what some guy on the internet says, how about a dictionary?
http://solon.org/cgi-bin/j-e/dosearch?sDict=on&H=PS&L=J&T=lolicon&WC=none

Actually, I could dig a show where all characters look cute but are in reality complete bastards (yay for PaniPoni_Dash!). :)
But here I only see the older sister as being so sinister.
Okay, maybe that's the point? One single grown-up, doing mean things to less knowledgeable, more gullible younger ones, and we are to laugh about how "stupid-but-cute" those kids are?
Yeeeeeeech...
Nah, Miu (pigtails) is supposed to be the randomly mean one, the manga is pretty funny and being done by #akatsuki-manga...
Unless it's been licensed, which it might've with me not paying attention.
The group often posts the tag line "it''s not just for lolicons."
Well, the fact that the show's intended (not incidental) audience is adult males gives it a few notches up the loli ladder. The occasional bath scene and panty flash in the manga don't hurt much, either.
Though we have yet to see if the anime will go that far...
Finally got myself to watch ep2 of Ichigo Mashimaro.... hey, it was pretty good! Thumbs up.

what to review instantly this season: http://raspberryheaven.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1702
Banner of the Stars III 1: I tried to watch it raw but there was too much speaking, I need a sub.
Bioboosted Armor Guyver: I read such much bad press about this one that I hesitate to even look at it.
Stratos 4 Advance CODE:204: all the Stratos sequels I have looked at so far were crap, I fear for this one.
To Heart 2: I'm in love with this one already without having seen a single frame. ^_^
She, The Ultimate Weapon Another love song: I have it, I must gather some courage to watch it... (I hated the tv series.)
Rozen Maiden Traumend: I love this one in advance.
XXXHolic Movie / Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Movie: I hate those in advance. Tsubasa was so slow going, un-animated and unnaturally voiced that I gave up on it mid-series.
Beyond the Clouds, The Promised Place: woot!
More Stratos 4? What the hell is going on here? Is anybody actually watching that?
Don't go lumping XXXholic in with Tsubasa just because CLAMP keeps crossovering them. XXXholic is a different beast altogether, and one I thoroughly enjoy.
Also, the movies are being done by Production IG, so the last thing I expect is bad animation quality.
Saikano OVA - Another Love Song Mission 1:
retelling of the same story, from another viewpoint - an older girl who was the prototype before Chise. Same long, mushy antiwar ramblings that rub me the wrong way. Same incomprehensible, unexplained reasons for the ongoing war and for using young females to be ultimate weapons. Top notch animation, better than the TV series.
After looking through it closer, it sure looks like slim pickings this season. There's the XXXholic movie which I MUST HAVE, and more Komugi and Dokuro-chan is always welcome, but TV-series-wise, it's looking pretty sparse. Jigoku Shoujo has my interest piqued, and noein seems to have some chance to be somewhat interesting. Apart from that... no, it's weak.
At least Zettai Shounen will keep running next season, too.
What about Mushishi? Give that a chance!
Oh, I was ignoring it because of the lack of information, but now that I look closer, I see that's it's an Afternoon publication, which means I am likely to enjoy it.
Go read the 1st volume scanlated by mangascreener. It's a very odd but nice and somewhat surreal manga. I can't wait to see what it's like in anime format. They better do a good job.

SUB KITA----------------\o/--------------!!
Banner of the Stars III, subbed:
Aka, Jin/Jinto gets slapped around. :) Good stuff.
I'll have to go into details if I want to nitpick:
Has anyone seen the first Zeta Gundam movie?
>>158 Hahaha! Funny.
its true though Stratos 4 is a masterpiece from Studio Fantasia, the Japanese sure love it, thats why its having so many sequals without having a fucking story right?
Stratos 4 rules
wish someone said otherwise but no ones posted since you have :(
> the Japanese sure love it
If they do, they're pretty quiet about it!
then why are they making so many sequals? we all japanese companys dont just produce sequals for the sake of it, their has to be a demand?
Thus my confusion!
its kinda like how shows like Divergence EVE had a sequal because of the perverts that like the breasts, but Stratos 4 had no storyline it tried to take itself seriously but ultimatly failed, its a good show but they really seem not to not know what direction to take the show in
i mean say the end of stratos 4 introduced "Star Seed", but never went any further in the series after Karin was rescued, the OVA introduced more insight behind that woman commander onboard the station and how she went insane from the star seed, yet that show ended when the station was rescued, the best part about Stratos 4 was the 5 minute ova
kinda makes you think they should of just made it a 26 episode series and left it like that
but then crap like Pocket monsters and Beyblade went on for hundreds of shows =/
one of the many mysterys of anime i guess
Pani Poni Dash is the most inspiredly overactive show I've seen in a while. Excel Saga doesn't even begin to catch up to it. People seem to be comparing it to Azumanga Daioh (and apparently Sensei no Ojikan, although I never watched that), but it's not really all that close. I'll probably forget about it long before Azumanga, but it sure is entertaining until then.
(Also, I have two drama CDs of it, and I see a marked lack of people translating drama CDs. I guess that'll go on the pile of projects I'll never have time for)
おまえら電車男見たか?
I just tried watching an episode of Pani Poni Dash, and I guess I just didn't get it. There were all these individual fragments of jokes and moe, but none of it fit together or was funny in any way. It felt like it was written by MegaHAL, except without the fortuitious humor.
Well, the class president trying to poison everyone was somewhat amusing, even if the joke was underplayed in the strangest way.
Overall, it just fell flat. Does it get any better?
2 and 3 have a plot, though if I said what it was it might ruin it. I can't say I remembered 4, though.
Also: The otakusploitation is getting kind of blatant. I mean, putting shobon in the opening?
Well, there are a lot of fans of it because of it's unusual and trippy visuals and well, moe, and maybe some of them are just Akiyuki Shinbo's bitches.
Most otaku think the enshutsu is very good. I've never watched it though because it seems too plastic. I'll just get sick of it. And if it's too moe I'll get sick of it too. Sorry, Kamichu, I had to ditch you for that reason too although you have one of the best production values.
gsd sucks ass. but gseed s1 is great. i don't know how one person can take a good series like GS and make a shitty one likeGSD
good thing Meyrin's ass makes up for the lack of quality in GSD. more ass please.
OVA Majokko Tsukune-chan ep 01 raw:
Based on a 4-frame manga? A happyhappy magical girl in a house out there helps good people and punish bad people. Minimal animation, belching-style gags, no real story, superfastspeak, some backgrounds are photographs, what.
Shin_Angyou_Onshi:
Based upon the manga(manwha?) of the same name, a man sent by the central government goes around and put things right. Except that the central gov is no more, so he's on his own quest for justice.
Amazingly well done animation, very smooth. I don't usually like to rewatch an anime I have seen, and I rewatched several parts of this one. The lovely scantily-clad babe also contributed to the overall enjoyment. ^^ My only regret is that this is all there is beside the manga. OTOH, if they had gone for a TV version we may not have had the same superb animation.

i don't see how GSD could be worse than GS
not that i'm very interested in finding out how exactly they would accomplish that amazing feat of badness
