4 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-06-14 15:46 ID:/UYgyXIk

Well, at the moment it's Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (recently licensed as "The Wallflower", Keroro Gunsou and Lucky Star. And yes, we occasionally have Guilty Gear matches.

point 2 is very right.
i enjoy anime with my gf very much! you should try cosplay sex...lol

11 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-06-15 00:14 ID:TlLvG/M8

I am a female otaku (Of course, there's no way to prove it to you, but whatever. =P)

As weird as it might sound, I do a lot of the stuff regular male otaku do(But I don't watch hentai =P That part is probably important. I probably should've put that earlier. Oh well.)

(...Okay, fine, I admit, I base my knowledge of otaku guys on Genshiken >_>)

I'm probably never going to find a boyfriend (Then again, I don't really want one), I consistently spend my days inside, I talk more online than I do offline, I spend my whole life savings on anime and manga, the biggest joy in my life is going to Anime Expo, my closet consists of anime T-shirts, I cosplay... Yeah.

I try and practice good hygiene at least though. ...Yeah.

>>6
Yeah, you're right, honestly, female otaku aren't usually like the ones you find in series like Aoi House, Genshiken, and Lucky Star. =P
Of course, then again, some are. But that wouldn't be me.

You could find a boyfriend online, you know. That's how I found my girlfriend. That's if you don't mind long-distance relationships though.

i wonder how he could stand that... tell us more

23 Name: Aerith : 2007-06-17 14:59 ID:WDZsFcuh

>>22

Well he could stand because since we were in a relationship, I obviously watched less than I would normally do. I'm not an Otaku hardcore if you will, maybe I shouldn't even be considered one? I watch, read and etc when I have time available, but still I get news of what's going on. Maybe of all things, what I like most is playing rpgs for consoles, Final Fantasy being my favorite game, and spend some time on Gamespot chatting about it.

As you I grew up older and stuff, I dedicated less time to my "hobbies". Now that I broke up, I'm just doing the things I enjoy till I feel like moving on again. Thus here I am spending my time on this board, which I just found, by the way! It is like Densha Otoko's jdrama bbs! Pretty neat!

You "Otaku" that want to date a "female otaku" make me sick.

A true otaku knows that the only girl for him is Kinomoto Sakura-sama and Takamachi Nanoha-sama. Yurie and Kamiyama Mangetsu-chan are up there too, but the point is, 2D, 2D LOVE!

If you want to watch anime with other people, get a nico nico douga acocunt, or some friends that are worth hanging around. If you want to play games with others, find local tournaments or games with acceptable online play.

Being an otaku is about eroge and 2D love. All the "otaku" girls I've talked to around the US are... well... if they weren't girls, people would run around calling them dumbasses. On MMORPGs, the players that are actually girls, well, absolutely suck. I know a priest in RO whom would sit around and buff the enemies while our castle was being taken.
And 3D girls that play Fighters are a joke, I've never seen one worth a damn thing. Definitely no Konata. Most of them seem to find their anime from ANN.

The point is, why are you guys interested in the first place? If a worth opponent is a female, show no mercy or fascination. If a girl plays an RPG it's almost guaranteed she won't hit max level or go for all the secrets. It is just their nature. A girl would not spend 100% of their paychecks on doujinshi, eroge, figures etc. They all seem to want clothes and "real" food. What the hell, why do the fools always tell me to eat "actual" food? $4.50 for a meal? HA! I could get a trading figure for that!!!

27 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-06-18 00:39 ID:tfvukUjy

>>26
well, at some points ure right...but its nice to have a relationship with a girl that shares the same hobbies and interests. we're not only talking about girls that game...i know many girls that play RO and not sit around buffing enemies LOL.
4,50€ for a meal...Ha-! i could get a classic manga for that!!!

>>27
At this point in my life, I'm willing to take dakimakura over any kind of relationship at all.
Most girls I know that watch anime do so on youtube.
I even know a girl who read manga on youtube. search for "Naruto manga", I shit you not :/. Tens of thousands of views, hundreds of comments... and why? "I can unzip the file..." "the video doesn't play..." I've also never met a girl with a mentality that says: FUCKING GOOGLE IT!
It is truly sad that I seem unable to find a girl that TRULY shares my interests. If anyone finds someone who is... well, -actually- otaku... report back here.

thats the truth, but you can teach girls to do the right things :D
youtube anime/manga fangirls ALWAYS suck, I'm so happy my gf isnt like this...she watches AMV's on youtube tho, lol.

(till now i didnt even know about manga on youtube, rofl, wtf is up with that shit..we should follow the uploaders home and kill their dog.)

aerith i miss you

33 Name: 11 : 2007-06-19 23:49 ID:nM/jbfen

See? Time's probably my biggest obstacle to any sort of relationship whatsoever. Where Aerith/23 could give up a bit of her anime time, I could never do that. I almost never hang out with my friends outside of school, because I'm either here, or watching anime or reading manga. The other obstacle is that I really don't want a romantic relationship with a 3D guy right now. =P

...And I played Yo-Jin-Bo, which is a "visual novel" romance for girls. I think I fell in love with Ittosai. Honestly.

But it's not like I can tell all my friends "Hey! I have a crush on this character in a dating sim!", because they're somewhat normal gasp. If I ever get asked "out" I think I'm going to act like a total idiot and say "We already are outside." Because I hate turning people down, but I also don't think I could maintain a relationship with someone.

I'm about as oblivious about guys as most of you are about girls. I lied back there. My knowledge of guys comes from Genshiken AND the 4-ch boards XD

>>26
...XDXD Yeah. Overall, we (Being 3D girls) kind of suck sometimes. Maybe not as badly as you make it sound, but yeah. =P

>>28
XDXD
Manga on YouTube?? That's amazing (in a bad way). And yes, I hate those people who depend on YouTube for ALL their anime and manga and whatever. I want to grab them by the neck, shake them and suggest they spend some money on a DVD or book. It's always nice to not be a total leech.

OP here!
thank you guys for so much information!あはははははは!!!
(^_____^)what else is there to say?

maybe this is interesting:

how can an otaku win the heart of a otaku-girl?

do otaku and fujoshi fit?

35 Name: 33 : 2007-06-20 07:24 ID:rOgsIIYg

>>34
Don't expect the girl to be the same as all your hentai characters. Most girls don't really see hentai as an art form, so it's not usually good to strike up a conversation about that. But I hope you knew that =D
Usually, as long as you discuss anime series that are somewhat in the girl's intrests, they'll respond. Read Fruits Basket. Almost 99% of girls have read that series at least, and usually it makes for easy conversation. Don't diss Kyou or Yuki, a lot of girls I've seen swoon over the mere mention of either of the two.
Also, female otaku are kinda unpredictable (Well, more so than most 2D characters). Mood swings abound =D

(Trying to help any otaku who want a female otaku girlfriend by giving insight into my perspective as a girl ^_^)

36 Name: Aerith : 2007-06-20 21:45 ID:WDZsFcuh

>>33

But you see, if you really love someone, you will end up gladly giving up your time reading manga/watching anime and etc to spend time with that person. Now, if the other person also enjoys the same stuff you do, than that's great, because chances are you will be watching animes together for example.

As far as knowing boys, well, I didn't either but it is a natural thing. The only thing I can say it is really important is to be always yourself; never try to pretend you are someone you are not for that special person.

37 Name: 33 : 2007-06-21 00:21 ID:rvgKOGOh

>>36

Yeah, guess so =)
I've never been in love with a 3D guy before (It's really easy for me to spend time with 2D guys obviously XD), so I've never really felt the need to spend time with someone. I'm kinda curious about what that would feel like. Hm.

And don't worry, I'm not anybody but myself =D I would never change myself for someone else, because that would be a hassle =D
Thanks for the advice ^_^

XD I just realized how much this topic is like Densha Otoko

I expect one of you guys to go out and save a girl on the train/subway now =D

Hahaha. You know, I think that because of technology, computers and the like, people are forgetting to put people in the first place in their lives. I truly believe that we should balance things in out life, but then again, we should be placing human beings in first place (relationships, parents, friends and etc) and spending more time with them.

the thread is very interesting rightnow :D thx for so many replies

Female otaku, too.
Most of my friends are otaku, as well.

I'm not bad. I have somewhat of a life, but at most times, everything I do reminds me of one anime or game or manga or another. Since I finally got my laptop, not even two months ago, I've nearly filled my hard drive up. I need to decide what to get rid of (TT___TT It's so hard to decide! I need to keep Kanon 2006, My-HiME and Suzumiya Haruhi. TT__TT).

I went out with another otaku for three months. But he was a total stubborn jerk who said what he thought was better was better, end of story -.- He wouldn't even try watching Higurashi no naku koro ni with me. He also told me to stop being so tsuntsun all the time. Like I could help it! I figure he just wanted me to be the stereotypical moe. But honestly, who is?

He also didn't like it that I didn't care about fanservice. What otaku wants his girlfriend to dislike fanservice? The whole truth is that I find it funny.

I figure sometimes otaku make good boyfriends, sometimes they don't. Don't hold your breath, though. They're probably more interested in Haruhi than you.

44 Name: Cliche : 2007-06-23 23:32 ID:PExYw2gp

I'm a little new, so I don't understand how to do the >>42 thing...

Aha, Yeah... no. Unfortunately what little money I do have is spent on figurines and manga. I'm working hard for a Yuki "Day of Sagittarius III" figurine... but I tend to get sidetracked at a trip to the bookstore, and the fact my Genshiken manga collection is falling behind. And, of course there was that $50 spent on Haruhi Special Edition DVD 1... DL is the only way I can keep up with my friends. I'm poor. But my favorite figurine is my first: a Saki collection figure from Genshiken cosplaying. Ahhh~ I love that scene, and my best friend gave it to me. So it's worth all the rest of my collection to me. ^^;

and again, n00b here. >>43

Yeah. Really. Stupid, opinionated, stereotypical, rotten, continues to mumble angrily

>>49
My friend was third place prom queen at our school and is going out with an otaku. It's kind of a genshiken situation, I guess you could say... hey, the fact that I'm her friend should say something in itself.

>>52
I can fit 10 eps to a CD vs 3 to a DVD. And CDs are cheaper. -burned Kanon earlier-

54 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-06-25 07:53 ID:/UYgyXIk

umm, how do you manage that? The most I'm able to burn on a CD is 4 eps, while I've burned entire 26ep series to DVD (Full Metal Panic, School Rumble, etc). Are you talking about burning DVD movie versions, perhaps? I meant burning a DVD with regular avis.

55 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-06-25 15:13 ID:zexmro4I

>>53 o_O
How do you fit 10 episodes on a CD without horribly recompressing them? A DVD has about 7 times more storage space than a CD.

56 Name: Cliche : 2007-06-25 18:19 ID:PExYw2gp

Ah hah ^^ I'm a bit of a n00b with this computer. And my friend was the one who was telling me what to do to burn them... she's not an otaku, so maybe she doesn't understand the space issue.

hmmm... I guess I'll have to try again with the DVD.

Sorry about the stupidity.

Cliche is exactly what I'm talking about. Feels the need to defend herself for some reason when someone makes a totally random & indirect post saying "hot girls do not like otaku" (>>49 re: >>53).

And then the whole CD/DVD thing. If you open up google real quick and do a search of "How to burn a DVD", then "Difference between a DVD & CD", bam, knowledge. Do it before you post, you don't have to even mention that you're noob with computers.

That there is a basic concept that any girl I've ever met does not grasp no matter how many times it's driven into them.

Perhaps in this soceity girls do not feel the need to increase their knowledge base because, regardless the second a girl says she watches anime a bunch of equally retarded male anime enthusiasts swon all over her. Perhaps it is a deep-rooted subconcious concept of "Well, it doesn't matter if I don't REALLY know what I'm talking about, they'll still have interest."

Bah.

Well I'm a vietnamese 19 yr old guy who loves anime and got into listening to japanese/foreign music becuz of watchign anime, my friend Jefferri (african american) who draws, plays games, read mangas, pretty much an OTAKU turned me into an Otaku (games, mangas, anime..ect). Hes one of my long time best friends too.

I"d like to say... I haven't yet seen any Otaku girls yet but I'm surprised there is alot besides cosplayers. I wouldn't mind an Otaku gf or just a gf who have some kinda of similiar interests that I have.

Kinda' have a problem with storage for my comp too lol Have a external HD 160GB (comp HDD is 80GB {only 74gb is availble}) tried to buy the 1TB but its only 2 500GB put together which lags the transfer of data n shit so i didn't buy unless its 1HD that is 1TB. My comp is shitty too.. 2001 HP 2.2GHZ 1GB ram(added myself) Geforce 7800GS OC 256MB GDDR3 card, tried playing wow with good FPS but my 2.2ghz CPU is limiting my Video Card causing great FPS lag when theres crapload of shit on screen haha.

If any of u guys or gals wants to chat with me on AIM its Alastar969 (damn typo my friends fault) I"m on all teh time if not watching crappy anime cuz can't find any good DL sights or torrents cuz most of the recent animes aren't subbed. Hate watching DMC anime cuz its only spanish sub which sucks cuz the english subs r kinda fucked up.. i catch on few japanese words cuz of my long term anime watching.

i'd like a boyfriend who's an otaku mostly cos i'd probly be able to relate to another otaku better than a guy who wasn't one.

I is 73. It's not just the yaoi! Yaoi constitutes a very small part of my interest in anime and manga. of course, i do like it to some extent... actualy, i like regular hentai more than yaoi... and i definitely don't like shota.

I don't like most hentai and I don't like most shota, but since I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion, I have a soft spot for Shinji x Misato shota, but only if it looks gentle and romantic.

Am I ebil? T_T;

nah, not ebil.... that sounds kinda good, if it was gentle and romantic...

Honestly, I always thought a strong percentage of anime nerds in the US were female, if not the majority. US male nerds have got "manlier" things to obsess about, like D&D and their FPS clans. (sigh, well fewer and fewer gamers in this country are considered nerds, it's a good thing)

heh, cute, but not quite.

Most shota turns me off because it feels like the woman is exploiting the boy, or doing it for some perverse reason that may not be healthy for him. When I watched FLCL, the kiss between Naota and Haruko was really creepy for me for that reason.

But Misato and Shinji are a special case for me. She's a lonely, sad little girl in a woman's body, trying so hard to pretend to be a grown-up. If anything, he's more mature than she is. And I think he cares for her more than Kaji does. He'd be good for her and she'd be good for him. ^_^

Ever seen the original film, "The Graduate?" That was screwy and sad, because Anne Bancroft's character was crazy in sad, bad ways. But this might be different. Or not. I know I'm a weirdo, but I 'ship them. ^_^

Haven't been here in a while...

I represent the... less pretty of the female otaku XD I'm not going to lie, I could use exercise. And some sun, god I'm pale. I should probably stop chewing my nails too >_>;;
I'm sure there are some "hot" girls who are into anime and stuff... Here, there, somewhere.

I just realized how much I hate "normal" girls. There were some little kids at the camp I went to, and god, they couldn't stop talking about their purses, and OMG their nails, and how rich their parents were. And for some reason, they latched onto me. The freaking otaku, who wears shirts way too big, and has pants that are literally shredding at the bottom of the leg seams. I now give my Haro plushie and my Sumomo plushie a hug goodnight, and thank god they're not normal.

It probably makes me look... odd, but honestly, I wonder why the heck I was born as a girl. Augh.

We love Google. My parents are always asking me how to do this and that with the computer, and usually, all it takes is a quick google. People always ask me where the heck I find all this anime stuff, when all it would take is a quick google...

...Man, I rambled.

I know a whole lot of female otaku that are gaijin. Most are fat and bitchy, but some are nice looking and kind. They kind of span across the entire spectrum.

There are a lot of japanese female otaku too, i chat with some over peercast sometimes.

There used to be a documentary on female otaku by some japanese tv program on youtube. I can't seem to find it now though....
I'll post if i find it.
