where i am, female otaku arent all that uncommon. well, i guess thats an exaguration. there are a few of us, but we have quite the oposite problem

203 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-29 00:08 ID:ztD+l88c

there seems to be a general misconception that female otaku like "real food" and "nice clothes"...as well as that they dont like hentai. I will voice against that, while i might be alone on this one. Yuri, Yaoi, Hentai. Its all anime, along with the furufuru shojo type. As for the real food thing, why spend money on food when you can have manga, anime or pirated pocky? [the real stuffs much to expensive]

I guess my sister is semi-otaku. Japanese food, a few animes. That's about it.

I am prettymuch an otaku I guess. But not in a bad way.
My girlfriend and some of her friends are otaku. Kind of. Otaku, but with no way of obtaining much stuff. She owns some manga, but she lives in a place where Japanese goods are somewhat rare. But she is practically otaku lol. Her problem before finding me was finding another guy like her, who was in to the whole japanese media/anime/manga/etc. stuff lol. So we're a perfect match. ^^ I love her. She's amazing.

Female otaku here.
Thin, and at least reasonably attractive. Maybe the misconception that there aren't any/many good looking otaku out there comes from some of us not being obviously otaku. I certainly don't hide it, but I don't announce it... you'd be unlikely to suspect i was an otaku just looking at me or having a casual conversation.

You don't even want to know what lurks around Sacramento's anual Anime con....shivers or do you? XD
This was no ordinary otaku girl...this was a fat lady in her 30-40's+, who cosplays prettymuch any character with a short skirt or school girls.
She's usually found bending over in front of cameras. >.>
What's worse, is she was one of the staff, and runs the cosplay skit session...shivers I think those dimply-chunky legs burnt out my eyes and ruined every character I ever seen her cosplay.
(not to mention her face looked like the witch from Wizard of OZ.)

TRUE OTAKU

OMFG I didn't think they existed in English-speaking countries.

231 Name: Definitionfag!SGRPrwhmGE : 2008-02-18 05:08 ID:Ch/dRpih

Alright, so I'm seeing a distinction here between Otaku, Weeaboo, and two other things that have no name.

Otaku = Knows Japanese terminology and anime as if they moved to American from 2CH land (slight exaggeration, obviously), who are otherwise mentally stable people

Weeaboo = Japanophile = Eats pocky/gets keychains/gets excited about anything Japanese for the heck of it, but never really attempts to learn any of the various aspects of Japanese culture or sub-culture in detail

Unnamed = Fan? = Individual who enjoys watching some anime, reads some manga, might know some Japanese (or be fluent), but isn't a philiac and has a somewhat normal interaction with the world (even if they may be the shy/reserved/anxious type, though this person may also be otherwise socially normal)

Unnamed = Cultural Interest in Japan = Isn't really into a lot of anime or manga, mostly enjoys Japanese culture, history, etc.

Can we get some terms defined here?

I used to date a female otaku, she was quite attractive too. Every friday she'd come around my place and we'll watch some anime but because she wanted to go home early, about 4pm, I only had about 3 hours with her a week, barring the anime club we met at we didn't get far and broke up a few days after her birthday.

Thinking about this I should post this in the romance board since I want some advice so I'll keep this version short. Most female otaku are either fat or not used to relationships. Admittedly so are men so it's hard for both genders to stop being ronery and discuss how kaiji is moe. The only way I got with her was her non-geeky friend to say "She wants to date you. I gurantee it."

268 Name: Sen : 2008-04-27 22:12 ID:P2lis8eR

>>267
Either I know alot of people who do not fit the common stereotype, or they're not actually otaku. ^_^
I personally fit the second option: Not used to relationships.
Not that it bothers me. At all, really. I could live without dating anyone. On the otherhand, if my favourite manga was cancelled entirely, I think I might become suicidal.

>only 14years

Believe me, we can tell. Your immaturity is a real turn off. You're going to have to work hard if you want to fit in here.

>but I'm 5ft 9in and b-cup and bi, but I'm a crazy obsessed otaku

Now you're just fishing for compliments. Please don't do that, it's very annoying, and is not relevant to the topic.

>crazy obsessed otaku. I have over 300 volumes of manga and over 28 series

While it is good that you have a good grasp of the basics, I don't think you're really "crazy obsessed". There are A LOT more people out there that have A LOT more anime, manga, figures, character books, understanding of Japanese culture, etc. I recommend learn you're limits; it can be really embarrassing if you over estimate yourself.

> its funny becaus shes this tiny little 84 pound person.

Again, how is this relevant to the topic?

>anyways,I'm actually trying to learn to write japanese. After watching over 200 series' of anime I memorized about 300 japanese words and it got me interested.

If you're really interested in learning Japanese, anime is the worst place to start. People in Japan do not talk the way they do in anime, and if you were to go over there you would be laughed out of the country.

>I also likedrawing anime style(and I'm pretty damn good at it). Also, what you say at anime conventions is true. those chicks make my eyes burn TT_TT that is so not a place for one lonely bi chick

Cocky, aren't we? How are you so sure your not one of those ugly girls?

>My parents won't ever let me go to any conventions near me because they think ill get raped. however, i always thaught it would be cool if I could meet my boyfriend in an anime convention.

Despite what you may think, your situation is not unique or special. Many parents won't let their kids go to conventions. You should be thankful they even let you watch anime. Also, if you really think you'll meet your boyfriend at a convention, you are sadly mistaken.

You know, the more I read your post, the more I wonder why you're even on 4-ch. I think it would be better for everyone if you were to frequent a website that catered more to your personality. I think you'd be more at home at 4-chan, Anime News Networks forums, or any other number of Anime sites out there.

Speaking of hentai.. I wonder what other female otaku think about it.
I'm personally ok with it. I read yaoi and I have read some mild hentai.. though the focus is normally on the girl (as is expected, really) rather than the guy. However, I know some female otaku who despise the thought of hentai, let alone reading it. They also claim to not like yaoi which to me is a little odd, as most female otaku (aside from those few) enjoy yaoi immensely.
