So guys... do you guys know many femal Otaku?
Do you even date one??
I got a otaku-girlfriend, she also draws doujinshi.
Shes more like a doujin-otaku.
I'm an Anime, Manga & Game Otaku.
What Otaku-types match the most?? i really wonder...
your turn.
Well I will say this my girlfriend is not an otaku but normies are good. Because of her I exercise and I lost about 100 pounds and am much happier now. I guess what I am trying to say is find what makes you happy and do not try for an otaku girlfriend or try to mold one, just enjoy what you can get and change if you like it. BTW she hates most anime (except host club for some reason).

theres a difference between OTAKU and WEEABOO
can we clear that case
I am an anime/rpg/j-rock otaku girl dating a /b/tard.
...How the fuck did that happen???
lies. There are no girls on the Interbutt.
All i know are female, I wish that there were more guys, just for equivelency sake
>>146
What kind of Bizzaro World do you live in where male nerds outnumber female nerds?
In Akiba there are porno anime shops. Lots of guy customers, but also quite a number of girl customers too.
Anime Fans are 60% girl. They are just too busy watching anime though.
Hmm, let's see. I'm a girl and I like anime, but I don't really think I'm "wapanese" because I don't try to speak japanese, eat with chopsticks, etc. But I do cosplay. Yaoi kinda creeps me out. A lot more than hentai, actually. My favorite animes are: Evangelion, Full Metal Panic, Death Note, Samurai Champloo, Gantz, Elfen Lied, Cromartie, Hare Guu, and Haruhi. I think I'm... reasonably attractive but kinda fat...

And they're all in Japan? That's how it seems from here anyway. If even 1% of people I interacted with knew what an esper was, I wouldn't have such a hard time.
You have excellent taste. We should totally go get ramen sometime. I'll wear my Sasuke outfit and you can dress as Rei. We'll be the talk of the town =P.
...hmm sometimes I really creep myself out. <_>.
...I just found out he used to be a mod for 7chan... (O_o);; He wasn't a mod for /b/, though. I didn't think the chans even had proper moderators other than their respective owners and a few "tripfags"...
Everyone here seems to think so... Anyway, he calls himself a "bad person" all the time, but he's really a very good person to everyone he cares about... It's just that if he's dealing with a stranger, he doesn't give a shit if the person dies on the spot... I've never met someone with such a world view before... O_o;;
Anyway, I think the chan's have a pretty bad rep, but I can't see the real problem with them. The only people they ever raid are people who need to sit down and analyze their lives anyway... It's all people who present themselves as representatives of their hobbies/fetishes instead of putting their personality first. I think maybe there is a good side to these raids, but no one ever sees them.
I'm not excusing some of /b/'s really bad cracking, though. Crackers are bad. Even black hatters go overboard sometimes. I just don't think /b/ is entirely bad.

Do you have friends who are also into anime? How normal are they?
> Everyone here seems to think so...
Yes, because if you use 7chan you're probably 13 mentally.
Merely eating with chopsticks doesn't make you wapanese -- Japanese and Chinese food is supposed to be eaten with them.
However, eating french fries with chopsticks makes you wapanese.
And calling them freedom fries makes you a faggot.
Does it count as dating if she was creepy, almost stalker-esque and no matter how much I tried to get rid of her she continuously pestered me, often to the point of me being even more uncomfortable than usual in my social-ineptness?
If yes then I have indeed dated a female otaku. Never. Again.

Oh, girl otaku are a CUH-RAZY bunch. Speaking as one, I sometimes really resent being one, especially when other female otaku assume I'm just like them and show me things I don't want to see. And I hate fanfiction with a passion, unless it's very well done, which still doesn't cover up the fact that it's Sephiroth having sex with Cait Sith. ~no thanks.~
Anyway, there are plenty of female otaku, and sometimes there's variety amongst them. They like to travel in herds and make that really screechy IIIIIIII! noise whenever they see something they like.
Occasionally, you'll find one that is kind, reasonable, and worth having. Congratualtions if you do manage this and she isn't underage. Good luck.
(OT: I've often wondered why 90% of fanfic contains gay sex and then another 9% contains straight sex. Some of us would just like to explore scenarios if they happened differently, but it seems the minds of all the authors are well in the gutter. Well I guess mine is too, but in different ways. Ahem.)
On topic again:
Yes... this underage thing is a real problem. Even living in a country where 16 is the legal age, you still run into way too much jailbait (confirmed this just this weekend.) So trying to pick up at anime or indeed any pop culture festivals is too random to bother with. Unless someone creates one for old school fans so that the young kids don't flood it.
I'm a girl, but I don't know if I'm considered an otaku, I mean, I know some Japanese because of many years of watching fansubs and I've been drawing since I first watched Samurai Pizza Cats, dragon ball and Sailor Moon... I watch anime or play games every chance I get (Just finished 3 series of anime couple weeks ago). Also, I think I'm the one of the only authentic anime fans in school, while the other kids are just retarded weeaboos with FMA key chains and Naruto headbands. They try too hard to make themselves seem cool and funny by saying, really loudly in the presence of other people, "Okay, speak English, no one's going to understand you if you make jokes in Japanese!!" while they sip their strawberry soy milk and eat their Pocky. I don't mean to sound mean, but I guess I had to vent someplace.
Doesn't it feel like you're the only authentic fan? (wherever you are?)
But, I digress, that really had nothing to do with >>1 's post, also, I kinda summed up what other people wrote.
Yeah. I mean, it's one thing to own keychains because you like the show, but it's another to own them just for the sole purpose of saying "I own a Japanese keychain from FMA!!!" I eat Pocky, but only because it tastes good, not because it's "OMG JAPANESEEEE!!!". And I don't eat it at school (people always want a pack).
It always ticked me off when they advertised Rave Master in the school book order forms as "This book is COOL! It reads BACKWARDS!".
I've been lucky to meet two fellow girl otaku that don't go squealing about how hot Itachi is 24/7, or how much yaoi fanfiction they've been reading. They're competent otaku. That makes me very happy.
Good luck finding competent women otaku you guys...
i think being an otaku is ok as long as they dont get too annoying. i consider myself one but i dont go around travelin in packs talkin bout how awsome naruto is(narutards ftw!?!) and bla blah. but i think its a good thing to be proud to a certain degree. ;O
Recently I found someone that likes anime at my junior college but I don't really feel like I can connect to him with meaningful conversations because all he likes is pretty much anime he has seen on TV and Shonen Jump magazine. I have a broad knowledge of all kinds of anime so it's kind of hard trying to relate to him.
I think the problem here is that these kind of people, as well as narutards and whatnot, are beginner anime fans. But I think they are also not willing to go outside their usual anime watching preferences and expand their mind with different genres.
Narutards aren't real otaku in the first place, they're mainstream wannabes.
It's not as bad as meeting a decent looking girl that you connect well with, only to learn that she's going out with a weaboo you've had problems with in the past.
Na ja. If not for said weaboo, all the other geeks I get along with wouldn't gather at that same place on campus every day.
It's a vicious little mixed blessing...
I think it would be pretty cool, to meet a otaku girl at my college, I my self watch anime and read manga pretty casually nothing crazy, I don't have a room wall to wall with figures or anything. Then again I have got friends who were not into anime at all and because of me they are now fans. So heck I'd be fine to just meet a girl I can get to like anime, I'd be a super plus to find a girl who's as big a One Piece fan as I am but, I am probably never gonna happen.
You have a much better chance of finding a female One Piece maniac than a female Lucky ☆ Star maniac, but that's just a guess.
>>174 one piece? yuck! Lucky star!!! lucky star!!! lucky star!!!!!!!! How do i type the star symbol? I = female. you're probably right though... I've met more girls who like one piece than I have who love lucky star ... and those were my age :( and i'm college aged lol
I'd be afraid to meet anyone who liked Lucky Star and wasn't aware of context. (that it is an empty marketing campaign for haruhi)
I would say it's an empty marketing campaign for (insert almost anything here.)
im engaged to one.. and she's pretty hot as well. it's like a living paradox in western society. She's into the classic stuff like Berserk, Vampire Hunter D; that sorta thing
Hidamari Sketch is the best slice of life I'd seen for a while. Minami-ke is currently battling it in my mind.
I don't know any otakus, with the exception of myself.
type "hoshi" in hiragana mode, then search the symbol with the space button
Why should I do this Anonymous? Will you pay me, or give me candy?
>>185
Y'see the thing that has the number 176 next to it in that post? You click it and it refers you to a different post.
If you'll notice, you'll see she was asking how to get the star symbol people typically use when typing out Lucky Star.
It's not that hard of a concept to grasp, really.
i know a lot of female otaku, just lucky i guess
176 here :)
an empty marketing campaign? really? are you sure? [L.O.L] doesn't stop it from being adorable and funny.
hidamari sketch is still on my list of things to check out.
>>183 thanks!
you son of a bitch nigger women disgust me! Anime female rules!
I think female otaku like mangas which have boys love.
I don't know that much...
In Japan, women who like boys love
are usually called "HUJOSHI"
It means corrupt
in b4 fujoshi
Otaku is for retards. If you actually like anime you don't need to act like a otafag who munches on pockey and draws animu all day.
No real otaku draws animu. That would be a useful skill.
Uh, dude, >>195: Pretty much everyone who "draws animu" is a raging otaku.
I find it hard to meet female otaku where I live. Its a shame, I would love some company. >_<
I think I met one at the cinema the other day.
200
where i am, female otaku arent all that uncommon. well, i guess thats an exaguration. there are a few of us, but we have quite the oposite problem
there seems to be a general misconception that female otaku like "real food" and "nice clothes"...as well as that they dont like hentai. I will voice against that, while i might be alone on this one. Yuri, Yaoi, Hentai. Its all anime, along with the furufuru shojo type. As for the real food thing, why spend money on food when you can have manga, anime or pirated pocky? [the real stuffs much to expensive]
I guess my sister is semi-otaku. Japanese food, a few animes. That's about it.
>>204 i wouldn't call that otaku, just...posibly a fan? not even that.
Yeh, I guess it doesn't really deserve the term.
This whole conversation is moot
Everyone knows there aren't any women on the internets.
Go back to 4chan, idiot.
...I get this shuddering feeling there are only like...5 people who even bother with 4ch.
I am prettymuch an otaku I guess. But not in a bad way.
My girlfriend and some of her friends are otaku. Kind of. Otaku, but with no way of obtaining much stuff. She owns some manga, but she lives in a place where Japanese goods are somewhat rare. But she is practically otaku lol. Her problem before finding me was finding another guy like her, who was in to the whole japanese media/anime/manga/etc. stuff lol. So we're a perfect match. ^^ I love her. She's amazing.
>>210 Congrats! Good luck on your relationship!
my GF is otaku, japanese and is a maid-con HURRAY
>>213 if you're telling the truth, I hate you so much and give me your girl.
I know a lot of female otaku, but I don't have much in common with most of them because I'm not one.
But right now I has a crush on a /b/tardess.
>>212 Thank you! It has gone quite well so far over the last 2 years. ^_^
>>217 You're wrong. ^_^ Very wrong. I've seen female otaku with my own eyes that aren't ugly at all lol.
But really now, are all male otaku incredibly sexy? They're usually ugly/fat too lol. Yet there are normal ones too. geez.
Though notice how 2D female otaku are almost always cute. The artists might put a flaw in somewhere in an attempt to make them less cute, but it hasn't worked yet.
>>217.
Female otaku here.
Thin, and at least reasonably attractive. Maybe the misconception that there aren't any/many good looking otaku out there comes from some of us not being obviously otaku. I certainly don't hide it, but I don't announce it... you'd be unlikely to suspect i was an otaku just looking at me or having a casual conversation.
ITT self-deception
Whenever I go to a convention though, the ratio is something like 1 cute to 9 ugly.
>>223 You're a lucky one. They never number more than a handful where I am. More like 1 passable to 9 (ohgodmyeyes)ugly.
Well when I say cute, perhaps 95% of the cute ones are also underage. :-(
>>225 You'll have to wait for them to grow up(or grow ugly) :-(
You don't even want to know what lurks around Sacramento's anual Anime con....shivers or do you? XD
This was no ordinary otaku girl...this was a fat lady in her 30-40's+, who cosplays prettymuch any character with a short skirt or school girls.
She's usually found bending over in front of cameras. >.>
What's worse, is she was one of the staff, and runs the cosplay skit session...shivers I think those dimply-chunky legs burnt out my eyes and ruined every character I ever seen her cosplay.
(not to mention her face looked like the witch from Wizard of OZ.)
>>This was no ordinary otaku girl
That's no moon.
Alright, so I'm seeing a distinction here between Otaku, Weeaboo, and two other things that have no name.
Otaku = Knows Japanese terminology and anime as if they moved to American from 2CH land (slight exaggeration, obviously), who are otherwise mentally stable people
Weeaboo = Japanophile = Eats pocky/gets keychains/gets excited about anything Japanese for the heck of it, but never really attempts to learn any of the various aspects of Japanese culture or sub-culture in detail
Unnamed = Fan? = Individual who enjoys watching some anime, reads some manga, might know some Japanese (or be fluent), but isn't a philiac and has a somewhat normal interaction with the world (even if they may be the shy/reserved/anxious type, though this person may also be otherwise socially normal)
Unnamed = Cultural Interest in Japan = Isn't really into a lot of anime or manga, mostly enjoys Japanese culture, history, etc.
Can we get some terms defined here?
You are much more my kind of girl. I don't know what this would be called according to ^, but if there's a typeset, I want it.
Ie, Girl with varied tastes who can appreciate style, is at least decently intelligence, and has a decent level of grammatical concern.
lol hiya everyone ^^ im new to this forum. this thread made me laugh when i saw it! b/c i know several girls that r into anime ^^.
