I don't have any friends at all.. We're half way through a 2-week long college holiday and I've left my house about once.

Lonely people unite ._.

I have a girlfriend. Who loves a band and me. But anyway

Girlfriend and like 2 honest friends. =\

5 Name: Anonymous : 2008-04-14 08:12 ID:YHwJTRH5

21, no girlfriend yet but I don't really care that much.

Still pretty good friends with a lot of my closer high school friends, even hang out with my not-so-close ones too.

Other than that I've really only met 2 people after leaving high school. I plan to try harder to meet people next term, or when I get a job (hopefully). :/

22. Female. No friends. None. At all. I start university soon.. if i'm lucky, i might make some there...

7 Name: Anonymous : 2008-04-14 09:12 ID:LsE9TVpg

I only get lonely when I meet a girl in real life whom I find perfect. This happens rarely. Twice, maybe. Other than that, I've got one friend. I'm rather lucky to have known him, since he is as transient and low-key as I. If we hadn't gone to the same high school (not underage b&, I'm in college now), been in the same classes for 3 years, and had the same lunch hours, on top of meeting through another group, I'd not have noticed his presence at all. I would probably be quite lonely if he died, or something.

Also I'm 18, if that matters.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. I can't wait until september. I chose mixed dorms so I wouldn't have an excuse not to socialise.

I could write forever... but currently I still have the option to go back to school and have my parents pay for it, but I'm opting not to. I don't have the social ability, I never will, so I see no reason to go back and torture myself. Though part of me desperately wants to get a degree, get some friends and have the college experience, start a meaningful career that I care about, and create a life I can be enthusiastic about living.

But I fear that my destiny is to stagnate in a low level job... Let inertia carry me through the path of least resistance, 'going through' rather than 'living' life.

Just like you, OP.

The fact that I gave up on that dream makes me look negatively at every option I have in life. Shit jobs that I will accept with resignation, and that I don't have the motivation or strength to do anything about.

I look with envy at the beautiful 20-somethings together in their VW Jetta, blaring some incomprehensible music and smiling with each other. I overflow with regret and envy every single time I see a nice, cleanly-kept, modest car parked in a suburban driveway with a college-letter sticker on the back.

WHatever.. as it stands today, my parents are going to use the tuition money (my dad is moderately rich anyway) to set me up in an apartment so I can try to become independant. I'm as unenthusiastic about this as I was about college. It's a last resort. I fear I will end up like you OP. If that doesn't work I'm going to a mental hospital (or killing myself).

tl;dr I wish I could give you an uplifting story, but I suspect that people like us are destined to a life of diminished expectations, contentement with depression, and misery.

I read a book that made me change my mind about applying for college. The guy who wrote it said it was his biggest regret that he didn't have the experience. This made me want to have the experience even more, there are too many things I have already regretted.

If you have the option to go back to education, do it. Its free, you just said, your parents will pay. Force yourself to, and you'll look back later on what a great decision you've made.

My last (secondary, really) resort is suicide as well. Whenever I feel sad, discouraged, helpless, instead of prolonging the emotion by looking to my hypothetically empty future, I reassure myself that one death will be more fulfilling than dying many times over in my failed years. :/

16 Name: Anonymous : 2008-04-15 07:06 ID:cpwyBkkI

Okay, suicide is not an option. Even if you think you have no friends and nobody likes you, it can't really be like that. Family counts, for one thing. Also, you probably don't realize it but I'm sure there are people who consider you their friend. I was thinking about suicide myself up until a few weeks ago but I never could go through with it because one of my brother's friends committed suicide a year ago and his family still isn't over it and neither are all of his friends. Instead, one day I decided to go for a drive to clear my head and didn't tell anyone I was going. I turned off my cell and just drove. I ended up driving all day, spending the night in a hotel, and then turning on my cell. I had messages from people I had hardly talked to in over a year telling me how much they were worried and how much they still loved me. I was the only one who thought I was alone and unloved, and I'm sure you're the same way. You all need to just try. I'm shy and it's so hard to make new friends and talk to people, but you just have to try harder. People won't hate you for talking to them, so just give it a shot.

17 Name: Anonymous : 2008-04-15 13:26 ID:Heaven

People always think nobody will miss them if they commit suicide, but there is always the landlord. They will be really pissed because you're not paying rent anymore, and they will have to pay for cleaning the house out of their own pocket.

18 Name: Anonymous : 2008-04-15 17:30 ID:YN7WZZP6

>>16 suicide is always an option, ALWAYS. Keep that bonus card in your pocket and when you are like in your thirties(or when the time is right.that feeling*), still alone, still an outsider and feeling miserable then death will set you free.

Pro-choice baby..pro-choice

I don't think killing your self is such a valid option, within the next few years something awesome might happen, it could be life changing, but if you kill your self you wont ever see it.

I look froward to weird shit happening, it usually flips me the fuck out, but I'm so anxious to see what happen in the future, I would never kill my self off.

20 Name: Anonymous : 2008-04-15 23:12 ID:I369/9d/

Yeah, I'd never kill myself either. Unless something really bad happened to me, disease or something. I dunno.

I've just spent the last hour sitting at my pc doing nothing in particular. It was really sunny today but I did'nt even go out.

I really can't wait for this holiday to be over.

21 Name: Anonymous : 2008-04-16 00:19 ID:L0xzq+vO

I will never off myself because I think it is really weak. But I have another thing: our generation might be the one that will witness the "end of the world". Another World War, climatic catastrophes, whatever, we might be there to witness this.

And seriously, if I'm going to die, it better be spectacular.

22 Name: Anonymous : 2008-04-16 02:29 ID:f8Rl8Mdl

I have a few, but I don't talk to them so much anymore. I didn't do shit during spring break, either, besides get high and watch 0083 one morning.

Me and other college-age kids are at different places, right now. I don't want to say I'm ahead or whatever... just pretty different. The "college experience" isn't at all what I expected or what I want.

But, I changed majors to psychology with a minor in cognitive behavioral therapy. Maybe I can work on myself in myself on the way to the degree.

We've all heard it a million times, but it probably is true that acting confidant, whether you are or not, is one of the best way to meet people.

Heh. I will definitely kill myself if I ever get a chance; however, the only thought that holds me back from committing suicide is: "A dramatic death such as suicide is not befitting for a worthless punk like me."

if you have no amigos, go find amigos.

sorry, I'm trying to work on my spanish skills... puhahaha.. jk

well, alright, I shall be your friend, just don't think about suicides...

but you probably want friends who you can actually meet. so finding a friend isn't that hard to do.

here is a 3 step procedure that works for me (since I move around a lot and I'm not a party person at all) when I'm looking for new friends:

1) drag myself out to do something just anything outside of my house

2) engage in light conversations with a lot of spunk. don't make the politically/socially correct conversations like how is this weather? or some bs like that, just talk about what you're interested or whats bugging you or w/e

3) if it clicks it clicks if it doesnt well don't cling, I've never tried that hard to make a friend so i dont know what clinging may get you but i bet it feels like shit if clinging for a friend fails.

in the meantime here's my email: downloadnova5@gmail.com

yea i know, i like downloadnova -.- ....what the hell can i say, yea just email me then I'll reply and what not.

and for me suicide is an option that i cant really get myself to go towards mainly b/c i feel like i owed my family way too much to put them through the unnecessary pain that'll get them through... so yea there's that.

good luck with w/e and if you still feel depressed just eat cookies..

25. Male. Haven't had any friends (girl- or otherwise) since I was 17.

Trust me, college/university does not automatically equal friends. In fact, if you live off-campus (like I did), it's almost guaranteed that no one will want to hang out with you, since they have easier access to folks in the dorms.

Tenants come and go. If you pay up your last rent and cancel your rental agreement, I'd imagine your landlord couldn't care less what the fuck you do.

Actually, that should read "Haven't had any friends since I was 17; never had the girl- variety."

Protip: No one has ever cared about this coming from someone who isn't already a friend.

This might be too late, but I have tried to kill myself twice. the first time was after i was rape and i couldn't live with myself seeing that person everyday. i thought i coudl go trhough with it but a friend stop me. the second time I use alcohol got drunk then tried to kill myself. Mi boyfriend came to see me that morning found me almost coking on my own vomit.

i have lots of friends yet i can't help to feel lonely and depress. I socialized 2-3 time every week with different friends, dinner, chess meet ups, jazz,, cofee, I could go on.
i graduated with honors from a prominent college, people tell me that i am impressive adn i am respected at my job and by peers in the field. the irony is i feel lonely and i can't tell anybody how i feel.
my husband of 8 years knows about my depression he stays with me and reminds me how many people love and care about me.
i guess what i am trying to say is that other people don't necessary make you feel less lonely. i keep on living alie b pretending that i am this bubbly hapy go lucky person very confident about me. I am afraid of telling anyone about my depression.
suicide is not the answer, but as of today i thought about it again.

Go to a therapist. Looks like you need some serious help - not just friends and loved ones. Might be a psychological problem running deeper, an hormone imbalance or whatever.

I agree with 31, but if you're not comftable with that, maybe you should find someone to share your worries with. Listen to your husband, he sounds supportive. He obviously loves you.

I am 18 and have no friends. It's not as easy as people make it out to be. I go out, talk confidently, meet people; then I never see them again. Or if I do they might wave at me. I don't think that counts as friends if all it gets you is an occasional wave.

> good luck with w/e and if you still feel depressed just eat cookies..

You should be a psychologist.

if you don't have friends stop moping about it and go try to make friends. Go to more social places, but do not use the internet, someone is likely to track you down. I used to have no real friends, but now I have 2 good friends after doing stuff I usually do.

21, been a shut-in since 16, therefore no friends. Too much undesirable pressure in the outside world.
