Well I'm a vietnamese 19 yr old guy who loves anime and got into listening to japanese/foreign music becuz of watchign anime, my friend Jefferri (african american) who draws, plays games, read mangas, pretty much an OTAKU turned me into an Otaku (games, mangas, anime..ect). Hes one of my long time best friends too.

I"d like to say... I haven't yet seen any Otaku girls yet but I'm surprised there is alot besides cosplayers. I wouldn't mind an Otaku gf or just a gf who have some kinda of similiar interests that I have.

Kinda' have a problem with storage for my comp too lol Have a external HD 160GB (comp HDD is 80GB {only 74gb is availble}) tried to buy the 1TB but its only 2 500GB put together which lags the transfer of data n shit so i didn't buy unless its 1HD that is 1TB. My comp is shitty too.. 2001 HP 2.2GHZ 1GB ram(added myself) Geforce 7800GS OC 256MB GDDR3 card, tried playing wow with good FPS but my 2.2ghz CPU is limiting my Video Card causing great FPS lag when theres crapload of shit on screen haha.

If any of u guys or gals wants to chat with me on AIM its Alastar969 (damn typo my friends fault) I"m on all teh time if not watching crappy anime cuz can't find any good DL sights or torrents cuz most of the recent animes aren't subbed. Hate watching DMC anime cuz its only spanish sub which sucks cuz the english subs r kinda fucked up.. i catch on few japanese words cuz of my long term anime watching.

We'll I'm glad to here to girls aren't discriminating against Otaku's . Check out my webpage n tell me if i look like a spazz in my picture hahaha!! well Cha Ne!

I'm a female otaku. I'd love an otaku boyfriend, but he'd have to be decent looking and we'd have to have more in common than just anime etc.
i'd like a boyfriend who's an otaku mostly cos i'd probly be able to relate to another otaku better than a guy who wasn't one.

Honestly, I always thought a strong percentage of anime nerds in the US were female, if not the majority. US male nerds have got "manlier" things to obsess about, like D&D and their FPS clans. (sigh, well fewer and fewer gamers in this country are considered nerds, it's a good thing)

heh, cute, but not quite.

Most shota turns me off because it feels like the woman is exploiting the boy, or doing it for some perverse reason that may not be healthy for him. When I watched FLCL, the kiss between Naota and Haruko was really creepy for me for that reason.

But Misato and Shinji are a special case for me. She's a lonely, sad little girl in a woman's body, trying so hard to pretend to be a grown-up. If anything, he's more mature than she is. And I think he cares for her more than Kaji does. He'd be good for her and she'd be good for him. ^_^

Ever seen the original film, "The Graduate?" That was screwy and sad, because Anne Bancroft's character was crazy in sad, bad ways. But this might be different. Or not. I know I'm a weirdo, but I 'ship them. ^_^

Haven't been here in a while...

I represent the... less pretty of the female otaku XD I'm not going to lie, I could use exercise. And some sun, god I'm pale. I should probably stop chewing my nails too >_>;;
I'm sure there are some "hot" girls who are into anime and stuff... Here, there, somewhere.

I just realized how much I hate "normal" girls. There were some little kids at the camp I went to, and god, they couldn't stop talking about their purses, and OMG their nails, and how rich their parents were. And for some reason, they latched onto me. The freaking otaku, who wears shirts way too big, and has pants that are literally shredding at the bottom of the leg seams. I now give my Haro plushie and my Sumomo plushie a hug goodnight, and thank god they're not normal.

It probably makes me look... odd, but honestly, I wonder why the heck I was born as a girl. Augh.

>>67

We love Google. My parents are always asking me how to do this and that with the computer, and usually, all it takes is a quick google. People always ask me where the heck I find all this anime stuff, when all it would take is a quick google...

...Man, I rambled.

Okay. Weiiiird stuff.

I've come to you guys, because I don't understand guys anymore than you would girls o_o.

Today, there was a boy (2 years younger I add) in my band class that said "Hi Julie" (My name, =P) everytime he saw me. Then, I was sitting alone, listening to my music, and he wants to listen for a while. So I play Cha-La-Head-Cha-La (KONATA's version for heaven sakes), and he kinda looks at me, and kinda manages a "Oh, that's cool. It's got a nice beat." It feels like he's following me >_>;;
I don't know whether he's trying to hint at something, or if he's just latched onto me because I'm the only girl in band that's not horrifically girly, or what. After all, he's only a freshman in high school, and he's fairly immature.
I might add that I don't like him "that" way, if it helps. And I just met him 4 days ago.

So, what's your opinion, male 4-ch'ers? (and female ones if they've got an opinion)

I feel kind of stupid asking you guys this, but I'm not quite sure what to do. I'm leaning heavily towards ignoring it and pretending I don't notice anything.

Actually I meant that HE was the one who was 2 years younger. You can do the math if you want o.o

But good news.

Apparently, he flirts with just about any girl he can find (Probably because honestly, he's not that cute or anything >>) He's realllly short, probably not even 5 feet, and he's got this really annoying tendency to repeat things like crazy until someone acknowledges that they heard him >>;;

I almost tripped over the sidewalk busting up laughing because he was hitting on another girl who was all o_o;; and >_>;; the whole time.
So, I don't even care anymore. I'm not going to see him that much anyway after this. I kinda started half ignoring him XD

And today, once again, he insisted on listening to my music. ALI PROJECT's Ankoku Tengoku and another favorite of mine, "Uchuu Tetsujin Kyoudain" by Konata =D He had nothing to say about those two.

I love Higurashi no Naku Koro ni too.

Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist, Azumanga Daioh, Full Moon wo Sagashite (Although I liked the manga version a lot better...), .hack//SIGN, Midori Days (Although, I have yet to buy volumes 1 and 2 >_>), Ouran Koukou Host Club, Fruits Basket, Kino no Tabi, Voices of a Distant Star, Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu (I should get around to finishing that one)...

I'm trying to think of ones that I watched and pretty much stayed with. There's a lot that I started, but never finished...

I'm interested in Nanatsuiro Drops (XDXD Yes, I know it's based off an erogame), Bokurano, and Moetan (I know English obviously, but I'm still kinda curious about it) too though... I should go watch some fansubs.

I dunno if I should be saying this in the anime section of the board, but I read a lot more manga than I watch anime XD

>>109
I dunno... I just like it because Konata's living the dream otaku life, and because Miyuki is so moe. ...That sounds kinda creepy coming from a female otaku, but I really do like the characters they deem as the moe one usually XD

No, most of wouldn't be considered typical girl anime. In fact, I'm surprised to see a fanservice-heavy anime like Ikkitousen in your list. I would have expected the gratuitous fanboy appeal to drive away most women. Ichigo 100% is by most accounts a middle tier shonen harem/love triangle comedy with a disappointing ending. Is it the first of its genre you have read?

Would any girls here consider themselves fujoshi, going by >>117's definition?

My roommate was an otaku, definately of the weeaboo variety. She had 3 different wallscrolls on her wall, 20 figurines of characters from Tenjou Tenge and Bo-Mei or whatever, her whole bookshelf was manga only (just left her textbooks lying on the ground) and she ate pocky, mochi, and ramone. She also mainly watched stuff like Tenjou Tenge and those other fanservice shows. The first thing she asked me when I moved in there was whether or not I liked ecchi.

123 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-08-15 22:11 ID:glcvuXDa

I think some things are being over looked here.

It would be awesome to find a girl pre-configured to like all the same things you do, but almost all the fun in a relationship is learning things from eachother. If that isnt there then you already know the answer to each question you ask.

"Do you like Haruhi?" "Yup",
"Do you like Higurashi?" "Damn skippy" ... ...
"oh thats cool."

Truth is, opposites attract. An otaku male is hevily influenced by what he watches/reads and will tend to treat and act like his favorite character or at least a general likeing to around girls. Since most romatic moments in anime revolve around 2 non-otaku characters, for instance Ranma & Akane, it teaches him how things would/could/should/shouldn't go.

I am not a woman and can't possably speak for one but I have noticed a general trend with them as well. female-otaku also act in this same maner however the characteristics they take on do not revolve around relationships but rather things that make them kawaii/moe. It's certainly related however nowhere near as deep as a male. Female-otaku retain the knowledge about relationships from highschool and not from anime/manga. (In fact alot of the anime/manga they read even revolves around this just as a male's) It kicks in automatically from human nature. They then aim for slightly-otaku or non-otaku guys at all which sometimes leads to trouble or a perfect relationship. It's hit or miss just like so called "normal" people do.

We otaku grow up in our own world then venture out to the "normal" world, relationships with non-otaku work the same way as relationships with people from other countries.

There is a difference. One is deliberate and the other? Not so much.

I'll admit, I find myself acting a lot like various characters out of manga, anime, and video games I take in.

It's not deliberate, but just something that kind of happens.

We see something, like a few lines or so we like, and we emulate them and incorporate it into our daily speech.

Now acting in ways that we have no business doing...

regardless, I'm doing a good job, if I do say so myself. I have a little sister. She's about to enter 7th grade.

So far, she's pretty good at web design, she's been messing with toolsets for games for years now, she likes D&D style games, JRPGs, and visual novels... she keeps up with anime, she watches nico videos all day, she's hit high levels in MMORPGs, she listens to doujin music, and she's got most melty blood combos down. Oh, and yesterday she beat touhou 7 on hard. No lunatic yet, but getting there!

She isn't a total fucking dumbass on the 'net either. Modding imageboards and game servers is serious business at age 11. Her typing/grammar is better than mine on things like IRC, etc.

Pretty sure she knows 4-ch exists, but I'm positive she doesn't really hang around. Guess I'm making this post in her name.

So, keep your eyes open gentlemen. There's hope. All we need is more older brothers.

You have a point; I think this is definitely one of the reasons why I like it as well.

Well, well. My older brother certainly didn't influence me for that; sometimes I scare him away. >:)

Well I will say this my girlfriend is not an otaku but normies are good. Because of her I exercise and I lost about 100 pounds and am much happier now. I guess what I am trying to say is find what makes you happy and do not try for an otaku girlfriend or try to mold one, just enjoy what you can get and change if you like it. BTW she hates most anime (except host club for some reason).

What kind of Bizzaro World do you live in where male nerds outnumber female nerds?

In Akiba there are porno anime shops. Lots of guy customers, but also quite a number of girl customers too.

Anime Fans are 60% girl. They are just too busy watching anime though.

Hmm, let's see. I'm a girl and I like anime, but I don't really think I'm "wapanese" because I don't try to speak japanese, eat with chopsticks, etc. But I do cosplay. Yaoi kinda creeps me out. A lot more than hentai, actually. My favorite animes are: Evangelion, Full Metal Panic, Death Note, Samurai Champloo, Gantz, Elfen Lied, Cromartie, Hare Guu, and Haruhi. I think I'm... reasonably attractive but kinda fat...

And they're all in Japan? That's how it seems from here anyway. If even 1% of people I interacted with knew what an esper was, I wouldn't have such a hard time.

You have excellent taste. We should totally go get ramen sometime. I'll wear my Sasuke outfit and you can dress as Rei. We'll be the talk of the town =P.

...hmm sometimes I really creep myself out. <_>.

...I just found out he used to be a mod for 7chan... (O_o);; He wasn't a mod for /b/, though. I didn't think the chans even had proper moderators other than their respective owners and a few "tripfags"...

is a mod for 7chan a bad person???

156 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-09-10 13:09 ID:Heaven

Everyone here seems to think so... Anyway, he calls himself a "bad person" all the time, but he's really a very good person to everyone he cares about... It's just that if he's dealing with a stranger, he doesn't give a shit if the person dies on the spot... I've never met someone with such a world view before... O_o;;

Anyway, I think the chan's have a pretty bad rep, but I can't see the real problem with them. The only people they ever raid are people who need to sit down and analyze their lives anyway... It's all people who present themselves as representatives of their hobbies/fetishes instead of putting their personality first. I think maybe there is a good side to these raids, but no one ever sees them.

I'm not excusing some of /b/'s really bad cracking, though. Crackers are bad. Even black hatters go overboard sometimes. I just don't think /b/ is entirely bad.

Yes, because if you use 7chan you're probably 13 mentally.

Merely eating with chopsticks doesn't make you wapanese -- Japanese and Chinese food is supposed to be eaten with them.

However, eating french fries with chopsticks makes you wapanese.

Does it count as dating if she was creepy, almost stalker-esque and no matter how much I tried to get rid of her she continuously pestered me, often to the point of me being even more uncomfortable than usual in my social-ineptness?

If yes then I have indeed dated a female otaku. Never. Again.

Oh, girl otaku are a CUH-RAZY bunch. Speaking as one, I sometimes really resent being one, especially when other female otaku assume I'm just like them and show me things I don't want to see. And I hate fanfiction with a passion, unless it's very well done, which still doesn't cover up the fact that it's Sephiroth having sex with Cait Sith. ~no thanks.~

Anyway, there are plenty of female otaku, and sometimes there's variety amongst them. They like to travel in herds and make that really screechy IIIIIIII! noise whenever they see something they like.

Occasionally, you'll find one that is kind, reasonable, and worth having. Congratualtions if you do manage this and she isn't underage. Good luck.

(OT: I've often wondered why 90% of fanfic contains gay sex and then another 9% contains straight sex. Some of us would just like to explore scenarios if they happened differently, but it seems the minds of all the authors are well in the gutter. Well I guess mine is too, but in different ways. Ahem.)

On topic again:

Yes... this underage thing is a real problem. Even living in a country where 16 is the legal age, you still run into way too much jailbait (confirmed this just this weekend.) So trying to pick up at anime or indeed any pop culture festivals is too random to bother with. Unless someone creates one for old school fans so that the young kids don't flood it.

166 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-10-06 01:27 ID:XqS8QDUa

I'm a girl, but I don't know if I'm considered an otaku, I mean, I know some Japanese because of many years of watching fansubs and I've been drawing since I first watched Samurai Pizza Cats, dragon ball and Sailor Moon... I watch anime or play games every chance I get (Just finished 3 series of anime couple weeks ago). Also, I think I'm the one of the only authentic anime fans in school, while the other kids are just retarded weeaboos with FMA key chains and Naruto headbands. They try too hard to make themselves seem cool and funny by saying, really loudly in the presence of other people, "Okay, speak English, no one's going to understand you if you make jokes in Japanese!!" while they sip their strawberry soy milk and eat their Pocky. I don't mean to sound mean, but I guess I had to vent someplace.

Doesn't it feel like you're the only authentic fan? (wherever you are?)

But, I digress, that really had nothing to do with >>1 's post, also, I kinda summed up what other people wrote.

167 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-10-13 05:53 ID:TSleotQM

>>166

Yeah. I mean, it's one thing to own keychains because you like the show, but it's another to own them just for the sole purpose of saying "I own a Japanese keychain from FMA!!!" I eat Pocky, but only because it tastes good, not because it's "OMG JAPANESEEEE!!!". And I don't eat it at school (people always want a pack).

It always ticked me off when they advertised Rave Master in the school book order forms as "This book is COOL! It reads BACKWARDS!".

I've been lucky to meet two fellow girl otaku that don't go squealing about how hot Itachi is 24/7, or how much yaoi fanfiction they've been reading. They're competent otaku. That makes me very happy.

Good luck finding competent women otaku you guys...
